Hi
This may sound vague, but I believe that I may be experiencing similar symptoms for a number of reasons:
Experience: between a minute and 30 minutes, the games fps seems to stutter dramatically until the image freezes. and while the sound continues, the image of the game freezes completely. at this point alt-ctrl-del, ctrl-shit-esc, start, alt-tab, alt-F4 and even start+L don't seem to respond. the first time it happened, i ended up having to restart the PC from the power button. Since that instance, I've found that if I wait a while (>3 minutes), it will eventually allow me to get back to the desktop where I have intermittently been greeted by a prompt box from AMD apologising for any inconvenience. I did notice performance issues around desert parts of the planet, and close to the space station, but I'm not sure if they were the cause or a coincidence.
My instinct tells me that this is some kind of memory issue, but I'm an idiot so I dunno.
To add, I've noticed that disabling v-sync seems to force the game into windowed mode. I only mention this in case it gives you a clue about the cause
Attempts to fix: so far I've tried reducing graphical settings to minimum as well as reducing the resolution. I've also tried verifying files via steam, sfc scans and 'attempting' to extracts logs from AMD to see if that could give me a clue, but nothing so far. (Note: while it is working, reducing graphics doesn't seem to alter my performance to any degree. It always seems to hover closely around 30 fps)
Next time I get a chance, I plan on reinstalling SE2 from scratch, as well as reinstalling gfx drivers.
any tips for resolving or mitigating this issue would be great
I have the same bug
Hello mann,
Could you please provide your Game logs? You can find them here:

Have you tried closing applications working in the background (like web browsers and overlays)?
Kind Regards,

Similar effects here, after maybe an hour, the frame rate goes down to the point where it is seconds per frame. This goes hand in hand with SE needing over 16 GB of RAM (I have 32, otherwise the problems might have set in much earlier). Perhaps a memory leak?

Same here, however it is a game crash not a system crash. It only happens to me when I have completed a mission and I am taking off from the place the mission was at. AMD offers its apologies and I've sent several logs to them. I have a decent system and have not had problems with anything like this before until the update.

I'm seeing a correlation here between all these posts that it seems like it's only effecting AMD systems? Or at least AMD CPU's? Mine with a 7950x3d and 7900xtx is doing the same things.

Seems like the patch broke some things with rendering. I have noticed it is when I see the blue sky and clouds. Might be a coincidence maybe not? Unplayable at this point. I've restarted, lowered my settings, vsync, changed the screen resolution, changed the percent of screen that is shown, I even cleaned up my hard drive, making sure I get rid of any garbage that my system may have had on it. Verified the files for the game, everything that I can think of anyway. Unfortunately I started a new game to see if it would cure it, It only made it worse. Editing this for the comment of only being AMD systems. I've seen some Nvidia on here as well. Might be people trust AMD more than Nvidia thats why there are more mentioned here. :) j/k Personally I like AMD better, but its a choice we make. Jaguar or Ford Pinto, your choice :)

Update after my post above.
Clean install on my laptop with a Nvidia 3060 didn't make it through the first contract after the initial tutorial contract before it locked up exactly the same way, with the same errors in the files.

Hey, there's a link to a video of the issue in this thread: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers2/pc/ticket/50776, and I'm posting the logs below. This all happened right after downloading the hotfix.
It makes sense to look at the logs from 11:20 pm.

I have a similar problem, when I do other parts of the quests and fly from the hydrogen jet station to the station in the mountains, every time the game freezes before the goal.. the ship freezes, the keys don't respond, but surprisingly the clouds are still moving. ESC doesn't respond either.
Machine: Intel i9, 64GB RAM, RTX 4060TI, WIN11

Hey keen,
I have the same issue after the survival addition and the mini update the day after. I don't recall having the issue with just the initial release just the after the mini update. Seems to happen when in ships either the grasshopper or the hydrogen thruster one. I would notice a slight lag and then all would become un-responsive and frozen. Animations, audio and FPS counter at the top right still seem to work. On task manager nothing out of place on system except the memory usages starts to noticeably get higher and higher. Only fix is to force quit. So memory leak is a least a symptom of a game breaking issues.
I have attached the 2 logs that were created at the start of the new survival game but no logs were created at the time of the freeze and memory usage spike.
In game I was salvaging anything with good parts like from hydrogen thrusters of escape pod and putting them in to the grass hopper. Every time I try to fly somewhere the game breaking freezing occurs. I was able to get as far as the step to fly to the station but it happens every time. No predicting when.
CPU: AMD 7 7800X3D
32 GB memory
Video card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super

So I did a comparison of SE1 and SE2 on memory usage. SE1 uses any where from 20-30 percent of my available memory at peak game interaction, SE2 when it crashes is using 80-90 percent and the ticks just keep going up even after I've CTR ALT DEL to shut down the game. Definitely memory leakage, greedy game syndrome.

Hello Engineers,
The issue with memory spikes and freezes is fixed on the newest Hotfix - 2.0.2.29. Do you still encounter freezes and/or crashes after the update?
Kind Regards,
Bartosz

Seemed to have fixed it for me.

When is this 2.0.2.29 patch available? I do not have an update pushed to my Steam and it is still on the 2.0.2.26 patch.

Hello all, i have try the "Bartosz" trick for an other problem, and it work for me, under Linux and Windows :
Don't forget to make a backup of Blueprints and SaveGames folders !
Delete all in the last "AppData" folder
