Hello Engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum. We sincerely apologize for the issue you’ve been experiencing with the new update.

Could you please share a bit more detail about this issue?

Did it happen just once, or does the game crash every time you launch it or load/start a world?

Did you change any in-game settings before the crashes started? Or is there anything specific that consistently causes the crash?

You could try restarting Steam (ending Steam processes via Task Manager) and see if that helps.

If not, try deleting the game's config file (please note, this will reset your in-game settings, which you can set again after launching the game) and the ShaderCache folder. Then start the game and try creating a new world or repeat the steps that were causing the crash.

  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg (config) file by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. Find the SpaceEngineers.cfg file and delete it (game will create a new one at the time of launch)

Also, delete the ShaderCache folder

  • Same access and steps as SpaceEngineers.cfg

Once done, verify the game files again on Steam (wait for all files to get verified successfully) and then launch the game.

If the game still crashes, please send us the latest log file along with any steps or specific conditions that cause the crash. This will help us investigate further.

Kind Regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department

Changing settings in fresh star system menu and the game consistently crashes in the menu. To see if I can get in the game at all I tried the quick play button and then turned on admin controls to take me to a trade station since that was to be one of the key changes. I can start and stay in a quick start game, but the economy station is an old design, not new. Then I joined a server to see if I could do that, joined, and those economy stations are updated. So somehow something is wrong with trying to start a star system world as it crashes in the menu and even if I try to skip the menu it still crashes. You should already have a bug report from one of my crashes.

Purchased game yesterday with six hours of game play, zero issues. Update today and now the game crashes within two minutes of startup regardless. Tried on both desktop and laptop, same issue. Tried the deleting cfg and shadercashe, but no luck. Something within this update is causing the issue.

This has also started happening too with me as well, I was playing in the game and prior to the update everything was working fine. After the update my game crashes immediately or after 2 minutes. For my friends, they can keep joining the world and everything works for them but not for me. I reverted the version back to 1.206 and tried a quick game and it started working again. It must be a new update issue but im not sure. I just wanna play the awesome game D:

Greetings,

I have performed the steps above however the game still crashes. It happens every time I open a new world, the time between crashes is variable but I never achieve more than 5 mins of play time. ive attached the lastest crash log post config/shaders files delete. No changes were made to settings other than updating to most recent build.

It also crashes on the home screen if I wait for a little while.

Update to my update!

I have found a slight workaround. it seems at least for me that changing from fullscreen windowed to fullscreen has improved stability.

I've been able to duplicate these results,

as well as a reversion to fullscreen windowed caused the crash to happen again after about 20 seconds

certainly improves stability but crashes still happen a few minutes later

I can confirm this theory as well, I went ahead and purchased all of the update packs, entered the game and it started working. This is most likely an issue of the game trying to download files and and the ssl ins interuppted. Just creating a log. I can give more data if needed. Btw Keen are you hiring? Would love to work for you guys :)
