"Infinite" loading into most worlds with mods

Zak Ottewell shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

When loading some worlds with mods, the loading screen stays but you can hear the majority of the game audio. I have essentially lost one of my most used worlds because of this issue, on my new world I can load into it but anyone who is joining cannot. A reinstall fixed it one time, but the next attempt to load the world broke it again. I don't want to have to reinstall every time I play my worlds. This issue has been here since the Heavy Industry update.

I have even removed the erroring mods from the world but to no avail.

I have attached mine and my friends log as he is getting the issue joining my world when I can load in fine.

Hello, Zak!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Unfortunately, we ask to see worlds that are not using mods and in this case, you have identified that mods are indeed causing your issue. My suggestion would be that if you identify certain mods are causing the issues, to check the modders workshop and see if others are having similar issues or, ask if others are. It may be that the modders are working on updates of their mods. Mods are not down to us, however. Sorry, we cannot be more helpful in this situation.

Kind Regards

Hello, Pluto!

Thank you for the update. Please could you supply a log of this happening when you are not using any mods?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Hi, we are pretty sure this is the error. It appears on worlds that don't load but doesn't on the logs of worlds that do load.

Hello, Both!

Thank you for your logs. Is it random for you what will load and what won't? You say that some are loading and some aren't, would you happen to notice if you are changing anything obvious which means that particular world won't load? There are no exceptions in there but I did find this thread https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/game-crash-upon-rejoining-server-camera-entity-from-checkpoint-does-not-exists there was a mention from a user about deleting the cache/temp folders. We would normally say to users to try the following steps too if the above does not help you

  • Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

/bfSnH0rGoN-NgctSWBJN3LfvWZvgnfye9BrPgucxV0n8TDpNc-7yZYwSifdRXyl1quu20KGUNmHzSf6VGRbhWS4a_EYn2MclxJSOz6eVarmz-fhTWVaofVOAVZN_l_leF9dgQ5GF

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

  • Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know how you get on.

Kind Regards

I'm pretty sure that this form of softlocking (infinite loading) is an actual issue. Ideally, the game should have a failsafe so that the player shouldn't have to manually (and abruptly) kill the program.

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
