What did the Hydrogen rebalance do? More specifically?

photo
5

From the announcement stream they:

  • Doubled hydrogen generation and tank capacity
  • Halved engine use

photo
1

Thats a huge change honestly... I just started playing about 3 weeks ago but got nearly 300hrs in game... hydrogen consumption is absolutely one of the biggest problems I had run into while attempting to leave the planet in survival...

After the update, our server no longer starts.

photo

i'm no technichian but check your end, we have a server and it's running perfectly :s

I am unable to use tools/weapons after the update when using a controller. There's just a clicking sound but nothing happens. It works fine with keyboard/mouse.

photo
1

Same with me, says it has error loading world file :/

photo
2

They said in the livestream that they are aware of a controller problem with the update and are working on a hot fix.

We are aware of this issue and currently working to resolve it. Our apologies for any inconvenience. We hope to have a resolution soon.

For me the latest edition of the game I can play is 1.195.024

No fix for the weapons disabled feature I see.

FYI: This has broken quite a few dedicated server systems in loading worlds both new and older worlds from the previous update. Probably has something to do with the new Xbox hosting options.

is there ice or a way to get ice or what?

Edit: found it

I cant find any details about Pertam.

Gravity? air? only pictures...

i cannot start my old saves any more....neither can i start a new world now either as it refuses to save and keeps coming up with a memory error even though i only use about 60%.....please help me....heres the log file from my latest attempt

When I hit X on console to put a block into the build planner, no matter which block...for instance...i try to add a basic assembler and it always puts a survival kit. Same thing in other areas...it always ques the first block and Only the first block. Build planner is now rendered useless.

I'm late to the party on this one but I like what I'm seeing, especially the hydrogen changes. That's a huge deal. For the folks who have tinkered with this, how are you folks liking the hydrogen balance? Still testing it myself but I think this is a step in the right direction so far from what I'm seeing.

Im really liking it personally. This update was in the right direction for just about everything it touched. Hydrogen was a huge boost. Not quite as good still for what i think we would be capable of in the year this game takes place in, but far better than what we had.

If more SE updates are this fulfilling to the base game as this one, i think we are looking pretty good moving forward

LCD Texture Issues Since Update 1.197

Be it vanilla textures or textures in through a mod, will not stay on LCD screens. Textures that were already present on screen before the update will stay. New images put on existing LCD screens and on New LCD screens will not stay. the texture will be replaced by an icon for a component (usually construction components)

When will Hotfix - 1.197.069 be published? not available in steam yet

overall, very nice update, thanks Keen!

photo
1

Please give it a rest and cool it with the hotfixes, I just want to play multiplayer for five minutes without a hotfix outdating the server i'm trying to play on.

photo

it should be noted that they have released a maximum of 2 hotfixes in a single day - and the second one is always to fix a serious issue - e.g. crashes

while it may be slightly irritating to need to exit and rejoin a server due to an update, the patches have been a minimum of several hours apart and are generally days apart - and for those experiencing the crashes or instability or corrupted saves, it is significantly more important that those bugs get fixed in a timely manner since those players cannot play the new version of the game at all, while others can always play single player if they are not experiencing the bugs, or on a private server that decides not to update immediately

also, the server being played on may experience major problems without the fixes, resulting in getting booted from the game anyway, and even losing saved progress

i can only assume the post was made immediately after getting booted from a server due to the second hotfix of the day, and that it was made while in a bad mood - and hopefully it is now clear that the idea of suggesting that Keen delay from fixing game breaking bugs so that someone apparently unaffected by those issues can play on a public server is somewhat unreasonable

and personally i hope they continue making fixes in a timely fashion so that as many of their players as possible are able to enjoy the new update as soon as possible

When pressing Y to take Basic Refinery off of the build planner, it refuses to do so. Guys, guys, guys.....cmon now.

Found another bug, Keen. When starting a Home World game on moon with drivable rover, any stone that I try to put into the survival kit by pressing LB+A doesnt work....it puts it into the cockpit instead. I have to manually move it into the kit. Just a fyi

photo
1

This isn't really a bug. The shortcut "deposit all" seems to go in order of each valid inventory that was built, so in this case it was probably the cockpit that was built first (before the survival kit). It would be nice to have a setting for each inventory that could change this, but that would be a feature request. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be fixable by removing the cockpit and adding it back.

photo
1

if you remove both the survival kit and the cockpit, and then rebuild them with the survival kit first, it should work how you want it

also, if you queue up bags of ingots in the production queue of the Survival Kit, it will pull stone from any inventory it can - only 500 at a time i think, but still better than nothing - and it will keep pulling it as long as there are ingots in the queue - so ctrl shift click to queue up 1000 should work for a while :-)

also, while it may load the cockpit first (on the default rover build), it will still load the survival kit once it runs out of space in the cockpit - and since there is very little space in the rover it will only take a few hand loads to fully load the thing

agreed this is not ideal, and as the previous poster said it is to do with build order, but the rover is a prebuilt item and is relatively old (certainly pre build planner) and so probably has some eccentricity in the data that causes that load priority to remain unless both items are removed

anyway - first suggestion should fix it for you

Nope. Nothing fixes it. Idk. Also, now, this has happened in 2 diff games so far. Each game, diff world. Once on moon, 2nd on Triton. After I finally get my little outpost airtight, I slap a vent on an h20 gen. Got plenty of ice, 30k+...after about several hours, my vents just turn yellow showing room not pressurized. Really? Bc 5 mins ago it was and nothing changed. No natural lightning on moon, so nothing is damaged. Went I to spec and checked and dBm checked. All blocks not damaged. Plenty of power as I found uranium. I thought it was a screw up on my last game, never figures it out. So, after 8 hrs of time shot down the drain I start over, only to have this base do the Exact same thing, even designed differently. *shrugs

Hi Keen - could you please confirm if you intend to reinstate the ability to edit settings and use mods with scenario saves?

Your QA representative in their reply to the following recent ticket stated that it is intentional behaviour:

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/cannot-edit-settings-for-campaigns

could you please confirm whether they were referring to not being able to modify settings or load mods when initially starting a scenario (behaviour which has been in place for a long time and is understood as the default), or if they were referring to editing settings (and adding mods) for scenario saves, which is behaviour which was removed in the 1.197 update and for which the following ticket is listed as Reproduced - Awaiting Fix:

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/edit-world-settings-button-disabled-in-load-screen

please confirm either way since for many people this is significant, and a feature which may have prevented many from purchasing previous content (e.g. Frostbite) if they knew it would be removed, since many people have impairments (e.g. control or visual) which require mods or settings changes to enjoy (or sometimes even to play) the game, above and beyond the other reasons that players may have for modifying settings or using mods

please confirm if you are not intending to reinstate this feature, or if the reply in the recent ticket was simply a misunderstanding of what the poster was asking

Kind Regards

photo
1

What's the thruster consummation now?

photo
1

I have just noticed that the status of the original edit settings ticket has been changed from "Reproduced - Awaiting Fix" to "Submitted"

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/edit-world-settings-button-disabled-in-load-screen

Is this an indication that you are now not planning to reinstate the feature? I assumed since it was a significant feature that was removed without being included in the patch notes that it was a mistake.

If it was in fact deliberate then please consider instead to simply require experimental mode to be activated in order for the Edit Settings button to be enabled for scenario saves, instead of arbitrarily removing such a significant feature

Kind Regards

Keen have replied and have confirmed on both related tickets that they are reconsidering their position on this issue:

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/edit-world-settings-button-disabled-in-load-screen

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/cannot-edit-settings-for-campaigns

This is encouraging news! :-)

i have posted a workaround fix to reenable the edit settings menu for scenario saves on the Steam Forum:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/0/5446505913002379663/

photo
1

Keen put it back in for the latest release as an experimental feature.

Thanks for that! :-)

photo
1

but then they added the Epic Games stuff - very sad - 1 step forward and 2 steps back :-(

photo
1

i should clarify that it is the combination of mod.io (which i mistakenly thought was owned by Epic) and the forcing of the crossplay additions, and all of it being bundled up as an addition to the 1.197 version of the game to prevent even the possibly of users locking their game to a version without crossplay but continuing to use the Wasteland DLC and the related updates which i object to

very similar to the circumstances and lack of transparency surrounding the settings feature being removed

it is just too much for me to need to constantly be on guard for features being added or removed without warning or notification, or to suddenly be forced into an agreement with a 3rd party for profit business

i understand this is just my personal position, and so i wish everyone else luck and hope they can continue to enjoy this game which does have a lot to offer
