Hello, Wolfgang,

this is not a bug, actually, but intended behavior. Scenarios are scripted and basically any change in settings can break some part of the scenario.

Closing this ticket.

Hi - this issue is listed as "Reproduced - Awaiting Fix" in this ticket:

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/edit-world-settings-button-disabled-in-load-screen

would you please confirm if you are telling us that this inability to edit settings for scenario saves, which was introduced with the 1.197 update, is intentional behaviour and that there is no intention of reinstating the ability to modify settings or use mods with scenario saves - since this includes content purchased before this change was made (e.g. Frostbite) - purchases that may have not been made by many players if they knew that they would be prevented from using mods or editing settings - many of which are vital for those with impaired abilities (e.g control or visual) to properly enjoy the game

if this is not the case and you are simply referring to the inability to modify settings when initially starting a scenario, then please confirm that - since that has been the case for a long time and is the understood default behaviour - but the removal of the Edit Settings button when loading a save is new in 1.197

this is a significant feature that has been removed in 1.197 and if it is intentional and permanent then please confirm this

Kind Regards

What you say here Ondrej is a demagogy.

Let people "break" their game if they want to, a lot of people have fun doing that, don't treat your players as kids.

As a community we've made so many great accomplishments in the game, from creating fantastic mods to building incredible ships and stations, all of this because SE did not in any way stopped us from doing that.

Me and a bunch of friends wanted to play modded game but not on the plain game, but on the never surrender scenario, so when we get bored of doing our own things and ideas we might want to try the survive/defense thing. Why in the world do we need to abandon the game now? Because with some mods we might get further and easier? So what?

I don't think they take issue with balance. Else they would have disabled the option to enable creative mode tools. (Easy enough to just spawn stuff in.) But I do agree that they should require experimental to play the campaigns with mods. Some mods are necessary, like aids for the color blind, and I've installed a mod to turn off breathing sounds because the sound alone annoys me.

just edit the xml in the save files if you want to gain access to the edit / publish button again

hint: search for campaign (I don't remember the exact value to edit out)

I like to play the intended version of the scenario then edit the world if I want to keep playing in it after the campaign or if I want to do a second run I might mod it, not before.

the point is that you can't edit settings when you start a scenario - which is fine - and is the behaviour that we have been used to - and ensures the intended default settings

but then when loading a save we had the option to modify the settings or add mods if we wanted - or to copy the save and mod that copy - all from within the game

the fact that the feature was removed arbitrarily and without being announced in the release notes is what is most troubling

and just because it is still currently possible to manually hack the save file - how long before that capability is removed without announcement too?

i am still holding out hope that it was a mistake or that they will reconsider how they limit access to the settings (e.g. experimental mode, or a new checkbox with a warning)

fair, this should have been announced (I didn't check if it is, but I haven't head of it in the stream and guess you checked)

yes it is not announced anywhere - which is why i was holding out hope it was a mistake (maybe carried over with changes made for consoles or servers) - especially since they marked the initial report as a bug that was going to be fixed

I have just noticed that the status of the original ticket has been changed from "Reproduced - Awaiting Fix" to "Submitted"

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/edit-world-settings-button-disabled-in-load-screen

Is this confirmation that you are now not planning to reinstate the feature? I assumed since it was a significant feature that was removed without being included in the patch notes that it was a mistake.

If it was in fact deliberate then please consider instead to simply require experimental mode to be activated in order for the Edit Settings button to be enabled for scenario saves, instead of arbitrarily removing such a significant feature

We are currently evaluating the impact of this change and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Thanks for the update. And further to my suggestion to require experimental mode, i think it would not be unreasonable to go further and have a separate checkbox with a warning to reenable these features for scenario saves (since i understand the desire to prevent users from accidentally making changes which will change the default experience)

Kind Regards

If you want to keep it in some way, move the indicator in save file to sandbox_config so the load screen lag is gone at least and people who want to get rid of it have easier time deleting it.

Is now an experimental feature in latest release - thanks Keen! :-)

unfortunately i must temper my thanks based on the unfortunate additional new feature you saw fit to add in this update

there's no need to go into details since it is well covered across all the forums

but it is saddening

to clarify i have unfortunately had to take the decision to stop playing the game following the latest update, since there is not even the option to keep the game locked at a version of 1.197 prior to crossplay since this update was for some reason decided to be 1.197.1 instead of 1.198 (which would make far more sense since it is a major feature)

really the fixes for the PC related bugs from 1.197 should have been 1.197.076 and crossplay and related features (and any bug fixes specific to XBox since i assume they have no choice in their version) should have been 1.198 to allow PC users to opt out of crossplay but still retain access to the Wasteland update (and DLC which they may have purchased)

so someone else will need to confirm if this hotfix worked

Hello,

this should be fixed on currently released version (197.168). Could you confirm if it's working for you? Player should be able to edit settings in the experimental mode.

Thank you!
