As someone who has played many different game genres, I have to say this: Space Engineers 1 and Space Engineers 2 (especially the first game) aren't very appealing to many players.

We should adapt the engaging features from other genres—mechanics, storytelling, progression systems, upgrades, and more—to SE2. Otherwise, SE2 won't become much more than a polished version of SE1.
