Grid wide Block deformation on paste on grid

When pasting a partial copy, a copy, or a blueprint onto an existing grid, swaths of the target grid get damaged/block deformed. As of yet, no blocks have been broken, no major impacts occurred on the platform I use to test this bug.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Place a large plane of blocks, blocks can be free floating or inbeded into voxel (platform used in the example is 2.5m blocks)

2) Place blueprint consisting of a large quantity of blocks, for this example I used this blueprint and pasted in on end:

3) in a radius around the blueprint a wave of block deformation is applied

Hello KikkaGod,

I have not been able to reproduce the issue. The grid is already deformed in both the save and blueprint. When I fix deformed blocks (they are not damaged, they are deformed) they stay fixed for me.

However it reminds me of an older issue. Have you been, by any chance, using the partial copy functionality when creating said grid?

Best regards,

Keen QA Support

P.S. Pretty cool grids :)

Yes, I used it quite a few times. Now that you bring it up, I believe the damage likely didn't start until I started partial copying bits and pasting them back on. The first thing that I partial copied onto the grid were some custom made square corners that went on the front, which were from someone else's block palette from the workshop that I spawned in. Link to the block palette I copied from: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3442299562. Though I've used partial copy on plenty of other grids, including the other 2 in the attached world without the damage appearing on them so that's odd. Hopefully this info is helpful, Thanks.

P.S. Thanks :)

hi, i have the same issue.

while building a frigate in mostly 50cm blocks, i copied and pasted some parts of it onto itself.

it was loud with some sparks. the copied parts include a few 2.5m half slab wedges.

the deck i was pasting on got deformed in a kind of wavy pattern.

this happened more and more, i had to replace the entire 150m deck, and many other parts, walls, structures etc..

it deforms all armor blocks regardless of size, type, heavy, light, all shapes.

i can mostly fix this on the large empty parts by placing a new layer of blocks onto the deformation and removing them again via undo function ctrl + z , or by replacing the warped blocks.

Hi, the same issue here, also with use of partial copy

I have the same issue. Random damage on a ship sitting still in space. I never used partial copy, not even once. I've done blueprint pasting, where you make a blueprint, save it, then paste it onto another ship. But even then, I've done it with symmetry off because symmetry doesn't work, and I pasted my nacelle to the other side of the ship, where there is no damage. Yet the damage happened on the other side?

It could be however that the damage happened when I was trying to get symmetry to work and just never noticed it for a few hours.

You can find screenshots at this discord link, videos are attached of how the damaged blocks have this gas effect on them. At first I thought it was hydrogen thrusters/reactors leaking, but i deleted them and it doesn't really make sense. I also have damage on my second ship which I never pasted anything too. Which was also weird. But.. I honestly can't remember if I banged that one since it's been many days.

i cant really prove it but in my case the bug appeard as a straite line all across the ship from rear to front , than it started to expande on the sides .

update : the bug appears when using copy/paste on large grids !

major distortion damages on block but no blocks are actualy destroyed only look damaged , please keen software fix it or at least give us a commandes to repare every block in the world .

uploading creations to the workshop when the blocks are damage will keep then damage ones placed down so this bug destroyes creations .

if you replace your grid with the grid that as a damaged block to update your creation on the workshop no one will be able to place it down , you will receive an error message from the workshop .

this bug is critical to be fix because it destroyes creations !

please keen add a console commande to repace every blocks in the world

Hello paddington o3,

We have reproduced and reported this issue internally. Additionally, I have added this thread to our internal ticket (SE2-25943).

I was just able to confirm that the distortion and rippling happens when I paste from a partial copy onto the station grid, hope this helps
