Add shield blocks, for these you could have a small shield generator say 3*3*3 which could be a smaller and weaker shield than the large shield generator say 5*5*5. You could also have different types of shields that are better at different things. For example, you could have a combat shield which is best are protecting against fast moving projectiles and another type of shield that is best at protecting against voxels which could be useful if your base in in an asteroid cluster to stop your ships from getting damaged.

Just add the Defence Shields mod by NAMZYHD4 to the base game. If we can't have scripted mods without using a server then adding them is the best alternative.

I agree 100% with you. we need shields to alleviate damage and such. shields could be a counter to kinetic weapons and hitscan lasers or ion weapons could counter that.

Yes please, also energy weapons (with some heat management or something to balance for those with large amounts of uranium inside)

maybe they should make shields an options you can turn on or off in advanst options then everyone is happy

Shields would make the escort contracts a lot more fun. but I feel it would be nice if there was a good reason not to use them as well. If they were expensive, heavy and used a lot of power. something like the jump drive that wouldn't be on every ship.
