Game freezing periodically after Frostbite update. Was running fine on 1.193.

Solved

Ryzen 3600, 32 GB RAM, game eats 6GB.

Played only since 1.193 - without any issues.

Yesterday updated from 1.193 to 1.194 - started having game freezes for tens of seconds every few minutes.

Can be GC pauses?

I've been experiencing this as well. Ryzen 3800X, 16GB of Ram and a RTX 2070. Up to date nvidia drivers and OS (Win 10).

Purely going from Task Manager, the active working set keeps getting squeezed (right now, task manager is reporting it 456MB) while the working set remains where I would expect it (approx 5GB).

The freezes also happen in a largely empty, creative world (newly created for build tests), no mods.

Decided to try things from the Advanced Settings for the world. I always set Sound Mode to be Realistic and it was the first non-default value I had. I changed it back to Arcade and my freezes appear to have stopped.

My very large and frequent (unplayable) freezes appear to have stopped.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have completely stopped them. :/

While it has still kept things _better_ to have Arcade sound mode, the very long freezes do eventually still trigger.

I also have a Ryzen 3800X 32 GB and an RTX 2060. I also made sure all motherboard and video card drivers are up to date and I'm running with all default config values. The freezes are more pronounced while playing the new scenario. The freezes keep getting longer until windows complains that the application is not responding. I'm attaching the logs of my latest session. I hope it helps.

I have a Ryzen 3600, 32gb 3200 ram, 1660ti. SE freezes solid for a full 1-2 minutes before returning like nothing happens. May go an hour running fine.

Did a fresh reinstall of windows 10, a fresh reinstall of SE on its own new SSD and still doing it. The ONLY game thats giving me issues is SE. I have close to 500 hours into it and didn't have this issue until Frostbite and the upgrade on PC.

I checked the SE.log file and its missing lines from that 2 minute freeze period, like the world stopped turning for 2 minutes. Went from 216pm to 218pm with nothing between them. Very strange.

I've have the same issue - Ryzen 3900x, 64GB RAM, 2080 Ti. The Frostbite scenario uses Arcade mode audio, so switching to Arcade does nothing.

EDIT: Completely reinstalled the game and seems to be okay for now. Will play longer to see if it happens again.

Nope. This time it crashed froze long enough that Windows said, "Nope" and gave a message that it stopped responding.

I'm seeing alot of Ryzen's doing this. Anyone have an Intel and having this issue? Windows pops the Not Responding error for me too, but if I wait a few minutes it goes back.

I have a Ryzeen 3900x and have the same issue. The game runs perfect no matter the graphic settings, but it freezes every few minutes. Nothing overheated. I tried everything i can, no mods, lowest settings, close all other applications, and even use some mods to reduce particles, but nothing works. Hope this will be repaired soon, I have a galaxy to fix!

I have had other issues since Frostbite getting connected to servers, but no stall like this one. Intel i7. GTX-980, driver v 445.87. Windows 10 V. 1909 (os build 18363.778) (NOTE: I have NOT installed v.2004 of Windows 10).

Sign me in on the issue (running SE incl. Decorative (1+2) + Style + Economy + Frostbite)

OS: Win10 Pro

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X

RAM: 32 GB

GPU: AMD RX Vega64 (Drivers: Adrenalin 20.4.2)

File integrity verified several times via steam, also reinstalled nothing helped.

Game runs like a champ until it freezes out of nowhere, becomes unresponsive and is terminated by windows without any further information. Affecting singleplayer unmodded after a seemingly random amount of time ~30 minutes but is way more present in the scenarios. They all crash in the same fashion in under 5 minutes. Makes them unplayable. Used to have the "gpu overheating crash" back in the day - had no issues since that one was finally fixed. Got like 990 hours in the game - would be a shame if that one took as long to resolve as the "GPU overheat" did :(

I attatched the logs of my last crash from the frostbite scenario - didnt even last 2 minutes.

I have the same problem, Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB RAM, GTX 1060 STRIX. Also only started with the frostbite update.

Alright everyone: I have found this "fix" that resolved the problem (except for minor stutters in the game from time to time that are barely recogniziable):

https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/0/2259060348500655858/?ctp=2

Since then I have played the entire Frostbite scenario and several hours of singleplayer open world without a single crash.

For those who do not want to/can't open the link for whatever reason:"Possible 1.194 freeze/ crash fix

I can't take credit for the fix, but it definitely provides results for me.

Go to your library on steam and find the tools tab. Find space engineers - mod sdk and install it. It's a free dev tool that Keen released to everyone. Open its folder and then open Bin64_Profile. Copy VRage.Library.dll. Now open your space enineers folder and paste this .dll in its Bin64 folder. Click yes to replace the existing one.

The only issue seems to be periodic stutter, but I haven't noticed it on my R9 3900X and GTX 1080ti.

Edit: Do be aware that you'll need to replace this .dll file every time the game is updated (or at least each major update)."
