Game Freezing and crashing

James Ribbon shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

So this happens constantly every time I'm playing this amazing game. Sometimes the game reports the scene being too complex but I have no idea how to fix my scenario.

So with that I've noticed my game having the following stats:

FPS: 121

UPS: 60

Simulation Speed: 1.02

Server Simulation Speed: 1.02

Simulation CPU Load: 11% 1.99ms

Thread CPU Load: 115% 19.29ms

Render CPU Load: 26% 2.21ms

Render GPU Load: 61% 5.08ms

Server Simulation CPU Load: 8%

Server Thread CPU Load: 5%

Up: 7kB/s

Down: 9kB/s

Server Up: 0kB/s

Server Down: 0kB/s

Roundtrip: 77ms

To Describe what happens:

Game plays as normal, might report scene too complex issue now and again on a small base not too complex at all, just got passed using basic assemblers and still using the basic refinery. The game might freeze for a while and won't respond or sometimes crashes to the point I have to end the task on steam as space engineers hasn't got a process anymore.

PC seems to also suffer "Lag" during this freezing/Crashing time. Running no applications like chrome or things that could be the issue to my knowledge.

I'm seriously loving this game but if someone could help I'd really appreciate it.

I have tried reinstalling, Verifying Game files, Deleting App Data Cache, Slapping it, Tickling it, etc... You get the idea.

Hello, Engineer!

Could you please provide us with more information regarding the issue you reported? Can you send us SpaceEngineers.log and VRageRender-DirectX11.log located at C:\Users\current_user\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Anything that I can do to help, hopefully those are the correct files you require.

The game simply freezes for 1-5 minutes and sometimes closes the game. I'd say it is random but I'm also finding that I get the warning that the scene it too complex with my rig. Not trying to show off but more of a comparison, a friend of mine is running a lower spec pc Ryzen 5 1500x Cpu and a GTX 1660 ti with no issue with anything that I have found myself.

Seem constructing blocks with a welding ship also affects performance. It's not a huge build just some light armour blocks

photo

Further Crashing and blocks are visually glitched as not being able to be complete or are completed and not rendered.

Even playing scenario's the game causes an issue.

Have to drop this game right now because it's getting to the point of unplayable. Can't face threats and can't put up with the constant freezing. Hope that you care :/

Same issue here, Ryzen 7 3600x game running from M.2 SSD on a RTX 2060, will try to install game on HDD and check if that helps, because I saw you are also running from a M.2 SSD.. maybe the issue lies there. Ryzen & M.2

I'll keep you posted.

On my other PC (i7) same save file is running perfect.

I'm having the same problem - every few minutes the game freezes for anywhere from 5-60s. Running on an AMD Ryzen 3600 and a GTX 1660 with 16GB memory. Logs are attached, there were freezes at 02:01:47 and 02:25:11.

FWIW, the thread linked by Geoff fixed the issue for me. Thank you!

Hello, Engineers!

Thank you for your replies. This is probably a hardware related problem (AMD), we are currently investigating it.

We would appreciate information about your PC specifications from all of you who experience this issue.

Thank you for your patience.

I got the same problem. replacing the VRage.Library.dll with the one from SDK helps and nearly all freezes are gone. only the warning "scene too complex" is still there - even in a quite new game with a very small base (maybe 30 blocks).

Hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X @ stock

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 with latest Nvidia Drivers

MB: ASUS PRIME X370-PRO with latest BIOS Version 5220

RAM: 2x 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT V2 Dual DDR4-3200 @ DOCP Profile with 3200 MHz

DISKS:

- Windows installed on Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD 512GB

- Space Engineers installed on Samsung 970 EVO SATA SSD 1TB

I have the same issue - my specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super

MB: Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO

RAM: 2x 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 3200 CL 16

SSD: Corsair Force Series MP600 M.2 1TB (System Volume)

Crucial MX500 1TB (Space Engineers Location)

This issue is not solely an AMD issue, I myself have an Intel I7-6700K CPU and still experience the same problem described here by others. What seems to be a recurring fact are the Nvidia GPU-s and given that the computer works perfectly and even the game to some extent during the freezes this could be more of a graphics related issue rather than a CPU. However this is only a guess.

Same here, game is freezing the whole pc every few minutes up to total freeze including restarting the system.

Thats what i tryed:

- New Win10-Version (Upgrade Pro N to Pro),

- Reinstalled everything including OS several times

- Run every benchmark/test i could find (Furmark, Furmark ROG Edition x64, 3DMark, GpuMem, prime95, Memtest86, CrystalDiskinfo, dxdiag)

- Changing graphic-settings ingame have zero effects

- Other games like ARK or DayZ are without any issues

- All drivers are up to date

It makes no different, what i am doing before the issue. Just flying around with jetpack or ship its the same like opening a container. My world is not too complex, just a base and two small ships plus a big one under construction.

I have just bought and started playing the game and im having the same issue listed, on a brand new system.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5950x

GPU: Radeon 6900xt

Board: Msi Carbon pro gaming

Ram: 4x 8gb Corsair 3200 vengance pro

SSD system: WD Black 3rd gen M.2

OS: Windows 10 Home

Replacing the Vrage.library.dll from the SDK indeed fixed the issue for now.

photo

i wonder though, if replacing those specific files atleast dampens the issue then how come that space engineers dont have those files as default vs the ones right now? smells like keen has f*cked up

Same problem, but space engineers overlaps everything on the screen so I can't end the process and need to restart the system.
