Blueprint failed to publish to Steam Workshop
Solved
Hello KSH,
I am experiencing a bug where after clicking Publish in the blueprint menu I amgreeted by what looks like a half-loaded screen with a checkbox "Exploration", an OK button, and a Cancel buttton. If I click OK, I am met with a ""Failed to publish to Steam Workshop" with the header "world publish failed". I have tried everything on similar bugs, but nothing's working forme. I am sorry for any spelling/grammar errors as the t description text box does not display text as I'm typing it, only when I save it. I am on Version 1.190.0 of SE.

I have this exact same bug. It has been consistent in all versions for me.
I've tried everything possible to fix this with no success.

i had this same bug now for a while and i can only seem to fix it by removing the image from the folder before publishing
it seem if the pic = a size of around 800kb or larger it fails to publish
this also seem to affecting Mods as well.
i think its realted to steams new Pic limits maybe

Confirmed, Steam has reduced the allowed file size for the picture to 1 Mb. Unless Keen changes the way in which the attached picture of the Blueprints that are made, we will continuously have to convert the image to .jpg to a size less than 1 Mb manually.

Same as Andrew. Even from a fresh windows install and SE install.

I have the same issue too, multiple of my blueprints either new or old can't be updated or published.

Just posterize the image (limit the number of color levels) before saving as PNG.
Start with 64 levels per channel. If file size is above 800kb, then decrease the number of color levels by 8 and try again. I usually don't have to go down further than 48 levels, but most screenshots can fit with 64 levels easily.
It results in very minimal human visible image degradation on the Steam Workshop UI, only some smooth gradients suffer from it. It is very easy to implement.
Until then the workaround is to open the thumb.png in Gimp, use the Colors / Posterize filter to reduce the number of colors, then export back as PNG overwriting the original file. Undo and do it again with less color levels in case the PNG is still too large.

This may be some larger issue, I've checked all of my images and nothing goes over the 1Mb limit, and now it gives me a message of "Make sure steam profile is signed in", when, in fact, my Steam profile is very much signed in. I've also noticed that when Steam Cloud is enabled, I cannot blueprint anything at all. This problem still persists on the most recent update of SE at the time of writing this.

Then I guess there are two separate issues here. Size of the thumb.png file and something with the Steam login.
Also, the file size limit does not seem to be exactly 1MB, because it failed to upload a nearly 1MB image for me earlier. This is why reducing the size to around 800kB is safe.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Please, can you provide zip of BP which cannot be published? It would help a lot.
Thank you and have a nice day :-)

So it is the size of the thumbnails i've managed to upload all the blueprints I couldn't before simply by resizing them (840 X 525 pix or lower) in any image editing software (I used Gimp seems quite easy).

You can access said thumbnails by typing %appdata% in your windows search bar, space engineers, blueprints then local (I'd suggest making a backup of the one you wish to resize) and voila here you have it.

Yeah, because scaling the image to a smaller size reduces the file size, so it can be published.
