Game will not load any worlds (SP or MP) past 5%, then crashes.
My friend recently started a server to play with Splitsie's Scrapyard Survival mod. There are other mods in the modpack, which has never been a problem in the past. Yesterday when I tried to join their server, I connected (friend saw my steam name saying I connected), the loading screen skipped from 1% to 5%, it stayed at 5% for about 20 seconds, then the game fully crashed and closed. I tried again only to be met with the same result. I then tried opening a previous save of mine where the same thing happened, and just to be thorough, I tried it with a brand new world just for it to happen again. My game will run steadily through all the background footage in the main menu but the issue happens when I try to load a world.
So far today I have tried: verifying my game files, uninstalling and reinstalling the game through steam, uninstalling -> restarting my PC -> reinstalling the game, updating graphics drivers, uninstalling -> deleting the Space Engineers file in %AppData% -> reinstalling, and yet nothing works. Note that I was able to play with the same friend. right after the Apex Survival update came out and, before today, nothing had changed drivers wise, nor had any changes been made to my computer as a whole apart from installing/uninstalling other games unrelated to space engineers.
My game is currently on update 1.208.015 and I am still running Windows 10. I have installed the Core Systems DLC, but didn't play when that update came out. I read that crash logs were kept as SpaceEngineers.log but I cannot find any files by that name so attached are a VRageRender file and SpaceEngineers file that I'm hoping correlate to the crash in some way that I just don't understand. I'm happy to give more information if someone is able to assist.
I have the same bug

Hello Andrew,
Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum regarding this issue.
After reviewing the log file you shared (SpaceEngineers_20260105_15202647), it appears to be incomplete. Could you please confirm whether this is the correct log file? If not, we’d appreciate it if you could share the full log file from the time the issue occurred.
Before sharing that, could you also provide a bit more information? Was the other single-player world you mentioned also modded?
Have you tried joining any other unmodded servers, and if so, did the issue still occur?
If you haven’t already, we recommend trying to start a new vanilla (unmodded) world or joining an unmodded server, such as one of Keen’s official servers, and checking whether the issue still happens there.
If the issue does not occur in an unmodded world or server, it’s very likely that one or more MODs are causing the issue on the affected world or server. However, if the issue does still occur on a vanilla or unmodded world or server, please send us the log file from the time the issue occurred.
Kind Regards,
Keen Software House: QA Department

Hello,
The file I attached was the most recent at the time, but I do see that it is only 34 KB where other ones are 44 KB so it makes sense that it was missing information.
Concerning modded vs unmodded, the single player world I created yesterday was unmodded. The only modded world I tried joining was my friends. When I tried creating a single player world yesterday, I went into the advanced settings, but the only thing I changed was making the world open to steam friends. Before typing this out, I tried creating another single player world but didn't customize anything, and the crash still happened after reaching 5% and freezing. I have also checked the Mods folder in %AppData% -> Space Engineers and it is empty. So far as I can tell, I am not running any mods and the issue still persists.
I tried connecting to the official Keen server US #2 and the crash still happened.
Attached are the files from creating a single player world (SpaceEngineers_20260106_112417799) and from trying to join the official Keen server (SpaceEngineers_20260106_113227679).
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello Andrew,
Thank you for the detailed update and for sharing the additional log files.
We’ve reviewed the logs you provided, and while there are no explicit errors reported, they do end abruptly during the early loading phase. This usually indicates that the game is being interrupted outside of its own logging process, such as at the graphics driver or system level, which would explain why no clear error is recorded in the log itself.
To help narrow this down, please ensure that your operating system is also fully up to date.
Since you are using multiple displays, we also recommend temporarily running the game with only your primary monitor connected, as multi-display setups can sometimes cause issues during initialization.
Additionally, please try lowering the graphics settings by navigating to Options > Graphics > Quality Preset. Reducing the graphics load can help rule out issues related to early initialization.
Corrupted shader cache files can also cause crashes during world loading. To clear them, type %appdata% into your Windows search bar, navigate to \Roaming\SpaceEngineers, and delete the ShaderCache folder.
After completing these steps, please launch the game again and check whether the issue persists. If it does, please send us your latest log files along with the Windows Event Viewer logs from the time of the crash so we can investigate further.
To get the Windows Event Viewer log, please open the Event Viewer (from the start menu, type Event Viewer). In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs, Application, and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe. (please see attached image).
To do this right, please follow these steps:
1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)
2) Select first the .NET runtime error from the top (using default ordering)
3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to us.
Please Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

Hello,
I unplugged my second monitor, changed my graphics preset to low (in-game), and deleted the shaders folder (which was named ShadersCache2 if that matters), and relaunched the game. I tested a single player world as well as Keen US #2 (PVP) and the crash still happened after freezing at 5% both times.
As for my OS, I'm running Windows 10 and haven't had an update since Microsoft stopped supporting it. That said, I haven't had any issues with other games, and I'm even able to launch and play Space Engineers 2 just fine.
When I tried going to Event Viewer I only say 3 .NET Runtime errors that were from November of 2025 and had nothing to do with Space Engineers (2 of them were from Overwolf and the 3rd was from the Windows Store App.) What I was able to see were application errors from when I tried launching the world and tried joining the server. I will attach both the SpaceEngineers.log files as well as the Report.wer files (I had to change the .wer files to .txt files to attach them.
Thank you.

Hello,
My friend assisted me in enabling Secure Boot and converting my disk space from MBR to GPT, and finally upgrading to Windows 11 (as well as other small changes we made along the way). I'm not sure exactly what did it, but I was able to boot into a new world of Space Engineers without issue. I assume it will continue working, but I suppose you'll hear from me again if something goes wrong.
Thank you for all your help and have a splendid day!
