Space engineers still forces Windows into sleep mode if the game is left idle while paused or while the avatar is in the cryopod. To keep the game from putting my laptop to sleep I have to hit the windows key after pausing or entering the cryopod. Space engineers does not have my permission to override my Windows settings and put my laptop into sleep mode for no reason. It is not overheating, my driver's are up to date, and my system is a top of the line MSI gaming laptop. This bug has been present for more than a year and it is high time it gets fixed.
The game forces Windows into sleep mode after some minutes afk.
Need More Information
I have a brand new windows 11 laptop with a GTX 4060. Everything is updated properly and my machine is not overheating. I have disabled sleep mode in Windows power settings completely. Yet no matter what if I leave the game running and go AFK after just a few minutes my computer goes into sleep mode.

Hello Engineer,
thank you for reaching our forum with this problem. We are sorry that you are experiencing it.
Can you please share me more information on this subject?
Are you experiencing this problem only with the game? It is not happening when playing any other games or just by leaving the PC running?
Can you maybe define more those "few minutes", please? It is any set moment, or the time of entering the sleep mode also differs from time to time?
Did you experience this problem also in the past, or it just started to happen now? If it was not happening in the past, is there something that you have for example changed recently on your PC; meaning both HW and SW?
Is there any difference when you e.g. play the game in multiplayer (servers, Lobby mode), and when playing solo? Or the behavior is the same no matter the actual mode you are playing on?
When you are back on the PC/in the game, it is working normally? Or are you e.g. in Esc menu, or back in Main menu? Please let me know how the game looks and behaves afterwards.
Please share me a log file from any game session where you experience this problem on your side.
You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards

It only happens in space engineers not in any other game or application. The sleep settings in Windows are completely disabled. It consistently happens after five minutes AFK in game. If I hit the windows key to bring up the desktop and leave the game running in the background it does not happen. The game does not crash and it continues running even after putting windows into sleep mode. When I log back into Windows it is still running. Since it doesn't crash it doesn't generate a log file.

I am not from Keen. Fairly sure game cannot cause a laptop sleep mode. Check your laptop power settings and change sleep mode to never.

I wouldn't be reporting this bug if it wasn't happening my settings are set on never sleep. This has been a problem on two laptops and has only happened with this game and it always happens with this game. Space engineers is absolutely putting my laptop to sleep and it is doing so in a way that seems like a security flaw. I'm not the only one who has experienced a similar bug it has been previously reported but was ignored.

Since this happens with a cryopod, I'm wondering if this is a server, and if "pause empty game" is set. I have seen servers going into sleep mode when the last player exits the game.

Hello Medullan,
Thank you for your continued updates on the “AFK sleep mode” issue. We understand how frustrating this can be.
To further assist in resolving this, please try the following steps:
Verify Game Files in Steam
Delete Game Configuration
This will reset your game settings to default.
Delete Shader Cache
Once done, check if the issue still occurs. If it does, please try the following as well:
Windows Power Settings (please double-check, even if already set)
GTX 4060 / MSI Settings
Mods, Scripts & Launch Options
Steam Client Checks
As requested in our earlier response, please provide log file from the game session where you experience this issue. Logs are generated even if the game does not crash, and can be found in your, AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder.
Kind Regards
