[1.187.205] No Tracers/Sound On Modded Turret While MP Client

Meridius_IX shared this bug 5 years ago
Not a Bug

It appears there's a bug with modded turrets and their tracer/audio not triggering for clients in multiplayer. In our own tests, we determined its affecting modded turrets that use the MissileTurret as the base of their turret (so they do not require the spinning barrel subpart). It only seems to appear on turrets using tracer bullets - turrets using missile projectiles do not appear to have the issue.

I've captured some footage of how the turrets behave below:

Here is footage from a single player local session:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de0xPIjGEzc

And here is footage of the same world running on a Dedicated Server:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOMVlU5XIgk

In the DS, the audio/visual doesn't appear for the suspect turrets, however they still apply damage as normal.

Here's a copy of the Test World used.

All the turrets can be controlled by either the control seat or by button panels. LCD panels with Green Arrows have no issues; Warning Panels seem to have some tracers missing while mp client. Red X means the tracer sound and visuals are not appearing while client.

this is occuring with cmdbobs weapons as well as several other weapon mods I randomly went through thinking this was an issue with cmdbob's mod.

Confirmed with GSF energy weapons lasers, which use bullets and tracers for their lasers. Works fine in SP, invisible to clients most of the time in MP.

Hi guys,

please retest it on current version (1.189.040) and let me know if it works or not.

Thanks!

Hi Ondřej

I tested some of these in a new test world and it appears that we've got some mixed results:

- Modded Missile Turret Class using Tracer ammo (Offline): The visual is fine, but there is no sound.

- Modded Missile Laucher Class using Tracer ammo (Online): No Issues.

- Modded Missile Turret Class using Tracer ammo (Offline): The visual is fine, but there is no sound.

- Modded Missile Laucher Class using Tracer ammo (Online): Audio is fine, but no visual tracer.

Overall, I would have to say the issue is not completely resolved. Below are 2 videos showing the behavior (all weapons are supposed to have visible tracers / audio).

Offline Test

Online Test

Hello, All!

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Is this still an issue that persists with you? There have been a number of updates since then so this may have now been resolved. If so, I will close this for you :)

Did a test on this today, and can confirm all the issues outlined above are still present in the current build.

Hello, Meridiu_IX!

Thank you for letting me know. I have been looking at this, this morning and so far have found strangely the exact same sounds/no sounds on both singleplayer and dedicated. I have found that everything is firing and audible except for 4 and 5 which are silent in both. Is this the same as what you are currently finding? This is from your workshop file posted in the original thread.

That world is quite out of date, some of the weapons included have moved over to WeaponCore (partly because of this bug).

I edited the world and uploaded a new copy. It has a single fixed weapon with no subparts that rotate. In offline, it will fire with sound and visual. On server, it only fires with audio (no visuals)

Hello, Meridius_XI!

Thank you so much for replying. I tried to get hold of you on Discord but glad you've commented. Thank you for the information and updated world. Just to double-check - The one that is causing me an issue in dedicated is the final 4th one as it has sound but no visuals for me. I see 2 and 3 have warnings but they are showing visuals and sound in both offline and dedicated. Does this match up with you? Just before I report this one :)

The edit to the world was a quick one, so you can ignore the warning lcds, as far as I can tell they're ok. The one small gun on a rotor should be the only one demonstrating the issue. That's matching what you're seeing as well.

Hello Engineers!

Thank you all for your information and patience. Due to Meridius_IX's recent world, I have successfully been able to reproduce this issue and have reported it internally :)

Hello, Engineers!

After programmers took a closer look on this issue, it turned out that the issue is not on our side, but the mod is not written correctly. This said mod is using wrong base class (MySmallMissileLauncher), which is not supporting projectiles.

Please let the owner of the mod know that he should try to use MySmallGatlingGun base class instead. That one should work.

Will close this thread as not a bug, as there is nothing more to be done on our side. The mod creator is responsible for correct mod behavior. We do not provide support for mods, only to base game.

Kind Regards
