Game crash during loading into save or new game (Intel video driver issue?)

Need More Information

Ever since the VS2.3 update (and following patches), my game has been crashing every time I try to load into an existing save or when trying to create a new one.

According to the logs it appears that SE2 is having issues with the video driver, likely crashing it and then crashing itself because of it. (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)

I've tried verifying files on steam, reinstalling SE2 and I am already using the latest WHQL video driver available, but the issue still persists. (man I love Intel drivers, they are so good with no issues whatsoever)

Hello Maximus Craftus,

Have you tried switching to lower graphical presets?

Additionally, you can try deleting these two folders from \SpaceEngineers2\Temp:

Let me know if this helps.

I just realized that I messed up the comment and didn't actually reply. As per the comment, I narrowed it down to the Sun Shadow Quality graphics option.

Hello,

I've managed to get a save running on minimal settings and after some A/B testing, I've narrowed it down to the Sun Shadow Quality graphics option. Anything above Low causes the game to freeze and then crash after a few seconds. This also happens when I change the settings while playing within a loaded save and not just during loading.

On Low it seems mostly stable so far... Though I've got another crash when I changed the Terrain Quality and the game fell apart trying to update it. (ground turned white and then it crashed) The terrain crash seems rarer as I couldn't reproduce it.

(The shader cache(s) didn't appear to affect anything)

This actually helped. Managed to start the game without crashing it on loading screen.

Hello Maximus Craftus,

Could you please confirm that the Game did not crash for you again when you changed the Sun Shadow Quality to Low?

Hello,

Yes, the game is playable and does not crash, when Sun Shadow Quality is set to Low.

(I planned to reply sooner but life got in the way, sorry... :( )

I just bought the game and i'm also trying to play with a B580 and i crash in the loading screen when creating a new world, sadly even turning every graphics setting (incl. Sun Shadow Quality) to the lowest value doesn't seem to fix it for me :/
