I have had game crashes and the AMD driver crash error appear also. I First encountered it after editing my second LCD text and clicking to save the text. The second and third times I literally aimed my view at an LCD with a crash a second or so after. I then turned off all my LCDS (About 6) and havent crashed that way again so far.

The next few times I have been monitoring the RAM usage in task manager. My game runs normally about 13GB RAM of my 64GB system. I found the RAM usage occasionally will slowly increase to over 16GB and then I crash about 16.8GB every time.

My system has Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Raedon RX 9070 XT with latest drivers. I dont have any videos or images sorry

Hello Engineers,

As far as I am aware, we have not pushed any specific fix for AMD Driver crash with the latest VS 2.4 as we are still in process of investigating the source of these crashes.

Interestingly, we can run the Game with no crashes at 60FPS on High Graphical Settings with similar setups and even when more than 20GB of RAM are being used.

Can you please check the performance monitor in the AMD Adrenaline app while playing, if anything is out of ordinary with the GPU or CPU?

Have you tried deleting these two folders:

3e34eb9963a214cc27ef3a23b09cda85

From the following path:

  • C:\Users\(your_username)\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers2\Temp

Afterwards, please try verifying the Game files through Steam.

Let me know if this helps.

Kind Regards,

So, you merged my highly detail bug report into this 7 hour old but post when mine was almost a day ago. There is nothing useful here I tried all these steps and more all listed in my bug report. Yet you merged my detail into this mess, and my detail is not listed for anyone else to see?

Am not trying to be an ass but why should people report detail or help at all if you just trash all the data and time they spend on it If it was merged where is it? Seems it was just deleted!!!

Bartosz,

It would help if you guys keep responding to us when we post bugs instead of giving 1 useless reply and moving on. I've reported this bug months ago. And now with the new patch it's just gotten worse.

Yes I tied this same problem 10 to 20 times a day. All logs show same thing all the logs I posted that now seem just deleted strang that bug reports are just deleted when merged seems like a stupid system. If they are merged would the message not who up in these thread?

So DDU ran clean driver install same problem caches cleared etc. DX12 is crap please stop forcing it the problem is page faults. As DX12 forces you to do memory management and it does not baby you like DX11 did or can See this problem reported all over the place maybe you guys should spend some more time on it rather than pushing it under the rug and removing valid report with detail and crash logs

None of the above work around works. Still not able to start new or continue save game. Times out and crashes within 2secs.

I got the game to crash again while I had the AMD Adrenalin monitor going. I have supplied the logs I recorded, but nothing looked abnormal, no spikes in any data, GPU or CPU. I didnt get to see the RAM usage as the adrenaline app covered it up, but it was about 15GB a few moments before, so doubtful the RAM usage caused this one. If I can find where AMD keeps their crash logs I can supply that as It may show the exact file that failed.

I'm also running on High settings but with ray tracing set to medium and Decals to highest. My frame rates are between 85 and 130. At the time of crash I was just slowly jetpacking into my main ship through a door after parking up another smaller ship to a connector, Nothing graphically demanding. I will try the shader cache delete and game file verifying and reply with any further info

I tried to delete the shader cache and also tried reinstalling the game but I'm still getting crashes. Performance monitor in the AMD Adrenaline app looks normal. VRAM is a bit high (14GB) but that should still leave me with 2GB. It crashes anywhere from 1 to about 15 minutes of playing. It also seems like it crashes faster / more often when changing graphic settings in game.

Since my own bug report got merged here, i wanted to point out that right now, with the latest AMD adrenaline drivers for the 9070xt, im not even getting past loading/creating a new world. just crashes 3 seconds into the loading screen

Same here, game was fine a few days ago, but all of sudden its just an automatic crash.

Same here. I also additionally crash when quitting to desktop from the main menu.

I am also having this issue, although it was fine about 6 hours ago. I close SE2 to have some lunch and when I came back to play again any world I try to load I get an immediate crash to desktop and the logs seem to say that my GPU is no longer recognised.

026-08-25 17:53:25.527 - Render thread -> Exception occurred: SharpGen.Runtime.SharpGenException: HRESULT: [0x887A0005], Module: [Vortice.DXGI], ApiCode: [DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED/DeviceRemoved], Message: [The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action.

I have attached the logs for the most recent crash.

I'm over on linux with a 6700XT and i started seeing the same fault you have in your render logs in mine, crashing multiple times per day and it only started happening in the last couple of days for me. I just assumed it was proton and changed version but if windows users are having similar issues on AMD cards it could suggest there is something in the game causing the crashes rather than proton or our GPU drivers.

A post has been made on the Keen discord stating that:

"Community Update: AMD Driver Issue SE2 We’re aware of an issue affecting some players using AMD Radeon RX 90xx series GPUs (RDNA 4 architecture). AMD recently released driver version 26.8.1, which appears to have been distributed through automatic updates yesterday. This driver may cause crashes in our game, and we’re aware that other games are also being affected.

Recommended workaround: If you’re experiencing crashes, we recommend rolling back to the previous AMD driver version for the time being. We’re monitoring the situation closely and will share further updates as they become available. Thanks for your patience and understanding!"

Hope that helps people. I haven't tried it yet so can't vouch for it.

Having the same Philip. I am not able to play this game at all.

I should not have to try to dig through log data to play a game. Down voted on steam as this appears, from the forms, to be a long running issue. Kind of crappy that Keen is essentially saying if you don't buy Nvidia don't play our games.

hello everyone

i can report that after following the workaround posted on the discord server, the game finally loads saves. I ran the AMD cleanup utility in safe mode and rolled back the gpu drivers to the 26.7.1 version. Now the game runs. Will let you know if i experience crashes after playing.

OMG Philip. I wish I could buy you a beer!

These steps also worked for me.

AMD Cleanup Utility: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-601.html

AMD Drivers Download for Win11: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

I hope that the devs can get the game working with current AMD Drivers.

Best of luck.

Fixed a crash on AMD Radeon RX 9000 series cards with driver 26.8.1

Looks like they pushed a hotfix for this issue!

I’m going to play and see if this resolved our crashing issues.

I just tried to play with driver 26.8.1 and latest SE2 hotfix and unfortunately it doesn't work for me.

Game crashes in loading screen when loading a world.

photo

Same for me. I updated SE2, reapplied the latest drivers and still crash to desktop. Reverting the driver version still works

Still crashes

I have had another crash, the first since the update, but lasted a lot longer until the crash. Once loaded back in after a game restart, I noticed that all my LCDs in the ship I was in (Not my others) were displaying a pink screen instead of black (No test setup yet), They went back to normal only after I went to change the LCD from None to Text display. So the crash is either the GPU driver issue or the game rendering LCDs maybe. And honestly I never had any crashes until I put LCDs in my ship, about 180 hours of crash free playing.

Hello Engineers,

We are investigating the crashes on AMD GPUs however, we don't have any ETA at the moment.

We are working with AMD to find a solution for "Device removed" crashes. We are recommending to roll back to previous AMD Drivers until this issue is resolved if you are using the latest drivers:

Thank you for your patience.
