Simple bubbles can be used that take power draw instead of durably a good example is the more damage the shield takes the more power it draws until it needs to shut down ans stop working intill it is able to be powered up

It's simple to add a shield in this game you just need a block or something like a generator that generates the shield it's simple to make one

The problem is not feasibility, the problem is popular support. keen said that people were pretty evenly split on the issue of shields. some were for and more were against. that is the reason.

Shield in an of themselves are a good idea the problem with them is the low damage overall of SE weapons. Even without shields two relatively small ships will already slug it our for quite some time until one or most likely neither is completely destroyed.

That being said, I do support shields but maybe more akin to Star Wars deflectors where the shield is is more there to try and ricochet the incoming fire but a direct hit will still punch thorough. Would introduce an interesting new dimension for ship building if you had to consider something like that

i like the idea Joni presented, sorta copying the deflector shields from star wars...it would be interesting if you could set where the shields would cover. like setting the shield to cover your front or back. then then would have to change it mid flight.

I feel like a block along the lines of a program block that ran either off your batteries or a special shield battery and when the battery depleted your shields would drop ... I would not mind the idea would not have to be a bubble but a invisible barrier just around the outside of the ship would be real cool and some weapons could have penetration some weapons old pass through shields or something [p.s the joining world loop bug is still an issue for keen iffical servers on series s xbox

What if the shield battery recharged slowly when not in use, like a capacitor? That way, it wouldn't rely too much on the ship's main power grid, Escape Road.
