I know a some people think shields would ruin the game, I think they would be totally amazing and make the combat better. it would also make smallgrid on largegrid actually possible.

a Shield with 4 different sides - front, left, right, back...
So if your taking hits on left side and running low on shield strength, you can rotate your ship, etc and have them end up fireing on back shield that is fully charged.
