Unable to join friends world on Xbox One

Solved

I cannot connect to my friend's world on the Xbox One. It does not list him in the friends Join Game menu, yet when I try to join the world from the Xbox player menu, I get the following error message after about 45 sec of trying to join game. "Your device is no longer able to participate in the network because it can't communicate directly with any remote devices. Please, check the internet connection for problems and try again."

I have checked all internet settings that I have access to as I do not control the router. The Xbox has bee disconnected from the wireless internet and the Xbox restarted to forget IP settings, then reconnected, and ensured that NAT setting is Open. I have submitted a log report through the Xbox on 9/13/2021 from the email address associated with this account.

Additionally, I created a world to see if he would be able to join. He also did not see me in the friends list. Ehen he tried to join the world, he just got kicked to the main game screen with no error message.

There are no issues when joining other games (i.e. Minecraft, Fallout76).

Hello, Engineer!

Are you having issues connecting to other worlds, for example our official servers? Is your friend's world using Mods, if yes, how many?

Could you ask your friend to submit a crash report after attempting to connect to your game as well? This would really help.

Thank you,

Kind Regards

Thank you for the quick response. I have not tried to connect to the official servers as the purpose of getting the game was just to play with him. We are using just the vanilla game.

From what he says, the game just goes back to the main screen with no error like mine when he tries to join my world. I will see if I can have him send a crash report. Can he comment on this report when he has submitted or does he need to create a new bug report?

Hello, Engineer!

Commenting in this thread with his date of crash report submission should be enough, thank you. However, could you please try connecting to the official servers or any other game just to see what happens?

Thank you,

Kind Regards

Good afternoon, he uploaded a crash report yesterday from email tony.kaer@gmail.com. We both could log into the official server Keen: US-EDS #1. However, we both received "Scene to Complex" and "Render Overload" errors as we were loading into the server, while just walking around, and when we tried to build anything.

Hello, Engineer!

If we understand correctly, you're setting your Lobby to Friends and then not seeing it in the Friends list, correct? Could you please try setting the Lobby to Public and ask your friend to see it in the Games list?

Thank you,

Kind Regards

Yes, that is correct. We have both created new games, set it to friends in the lobby, and neither of us can see each other.

I did create a new world with the settings for public and he was able to see the world in the game list, however when he tries to join it just kicks him back to the main menu screen with no error messages.

He then changed his game settings as well and I when I tried to join, it gave me the error message "Your device is no longer able to participate in the network because it can't communicate directly with any remote devices. Please, check the internet connection for problems and try again."

Hello, Engineer!

We have consulted with our developers. They have asked to check if both of you have NAT set to at least Moderate. Otherwise it could be an Xbox networking issue or an issue with your connection. We couldn't see any issues in your logs and we couldn't reproduce the issue on our side.

Could you please try joining any other Lobbies, not each other's, and seeing if you both get the same result?

Thank you,

Kind Regards

I am experiencing the very same issue joining friends as previously reported in this thread. Nothing I have found explains the issue, my internet connection is solid, restarting console doesn't fix it, I'm attempting a reset, but I'm doubtful it will solve it. And no, I have not tried joining official servers, as I do not play on them.

Me and a friend have the same issue, we have open NAT types, and the game keeps saying we cannot connect. Games are set to friend join, and even new ones do not work. For some reason we just cannot connect.

Hello Engineer,

Could you try connecting to the official servers or other games just to check if those work for you? Also please try sending us a log.

Kind regards,

We tried official servers and they did not work either. How do I send a crash log on Xbox?

@Jacob Denzin If you got start menu, press "Y" button, and the very last item is report issue. When you submit the report, post back here with what the email address date/time was so they can find it in their system. You can report your friends as well here so they do not have to. They had no problem when I reported my friends bug report he send through his Xbox.

@Keen Support. Is there any update on the issue? I did not see anything in the latest changelog, and it has been 4 months without an status update on the ticket.
