Sound issue

Jon David shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

Hello,

I'm having issues with space engineers where I'm only getting some sounds in my left headset, i.e.. footsteps, doors opening and closing, assembly running..etc. Most other sounds work in both ears..i.e. jetpacks, raining, bumping into structures etc. I can't find a way to make it work right. Like when I'm standing next to the running assembly the sound is only in my left ear. When I turn my character around in game I still only hear it in the left ear when it should be mainly in the right ear. Any ideas?

Hello, Jon,

thanks for sharing your issue with us and we are sorry that you are experiencing it in the first place.

Can I please ask a few questions, please? Are you using some real 7.1 headphones (not virtual 7.1)? We have very similar issue here - you think it might be the same/similar issue (although it´s rather strange that they are complaining about sound coming through right ear... while you seems to have it coming through the left ear)?

What are your in-game sound settings - Arcade or Realistic?

What are your Windows sound settings - spatial sound settings, what bit rate you have set etc... ?

Do you use any third party sound system - probably the app from your headphone manufacturer?

Are you able to test it even on some other headphones/sound system?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Kind Regards

Hello,

Sorry it took a couple days to dig out my old headphones. I'm currently using HyperX Cloud Alpha S which are virtual 7.1 surround sound. I have the 7.1 turned off but its the headsets I'm having the sound issues with. When I use my old Razer Kraken headsets everything sounds normal and are no sound issues. I changed to the HyperX because the mic started having issues in the Razor headset.

I'm guessing it's a setting in the HyperX headset but I cant find the problem. I'm not sure if my in-game sound settings are Arcade or Realistic and I don't know where to check it at.

Hello, Jon,

glad it plays without problems at least on your old headphones. As you can see in the other thread, I have no luck with this issue, as it is obviously HW specific.

You can find the sound settings in the Advance world settings, when starting new game, or accessible from Load game menu. See the image.

How about your other settings - Windows sound settings as I asked last time? Can you specify about these as well, please?

Looking forward your reply.

Kind Regards

Ok, I think I figured out the problem when I was getting you my Windows settings. There is two settings for my HyperX Cloud Alpha S. I was having the issue when it was set to output: Headset Earphone (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Chat). I changed it to Speakers (HyperX Cloud Alpha S Game) and now it seems to be working correctly.
