Ship Won't Move After Disconnecting Connector

Ashley O'Riordan shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

Hi,

We have been having a recurring bug on our multiplayer server. We have a single large base where we operate out of with multiple connectors we use to dock our ships at. Frequently when we undock our ships the thrusters and gyroscopes will become entirely unresponsive, sticking the ship in place.

We have tried multiple ideas to work around the problem:

  • Toggling the ship's power
  • Turning the connector off instead of toggling the lock
  • Getting other players to get into the "broken" ship

So far the only semi-consistent workaround is to get a player that was last in a working ship into the "broken" ship but as they can sometimes be gone or even disconnected from the server, this can lead to ships being forever stuck in place until the bug just disappears.

We do currently have two mods on the server the world is saved to: BuildInfo and Text HUD API. This issue has existed before we installed these two mods onto the server. We started the server two days ago, and only installed these mods today. We are also currently running the server on Experimental Mode.

Hello Ashley!

I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. There is an ongoing thread for rubber banding with connectors here which I originally thought this might be related to. However, I'm not sure that you're actually having any problem connecting, it's just more unresponsive. Is there any rubber banding at all? Is this happening only on your own particular server and is it happening to all the players? Is it possible to supply a log? Also, a copy of the world and video would be a great help.

  • Logs
  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

  • Saves
  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you for responding.

We have had some issues with rubberbanding, but it is much less common than this particular bug. When the rubberbanding occurs it usually fixes itself by waiting a minute or two or us just leaving the ship and getting back in a few times. The actual bug we're experiencing persists for much longer and I'm not sure what makes it go away. It also seems to effect everyone on the server (approximately 10 people or so).

I am not the server admin, but they have been kind enough to give me the saves, and I have a video of me showcasing the bug. I'm sorry if I sound a little tense, we were at the tail end of a long session and a little stressed because of the bug.

Hello Ashley!

Thank you for the information and video - No problem about how you sounded, I appreciate you don't want to be dealing with the issue :)

I've been trying to reproduce this and it is undocking as it should do. Similarly, the mentioned thread about the connector issue with rubber banding is still open due to us not being able to reproduce the issue reliably which is terribly annoying for us. The video shows it perfectly but so far, I have been unsuccessful in reproducing the issue myself. Is this something that you'll have happen one time you login but the next time it's just not happening?

Kind Regards

Hello Engineer,

Since there are no new comments in this topic, we are closing this thread as outdated.

In case anyone is encountering the same or similar bug, which is not already posted in a

different thread, please feel free to create a new thread with all relevant information.

Thank you.
