Nvidia Support

Won't Fix

Summary: I have played and enjoyed the game when I was using my old AMD r7 260x gpu. Game was working perfectly. However, after upgrading GPUs and therefore switching from AMD to NVIDIA my game will not launch.

I have spend 4+ hours searching for an answer to my problem here, these are the things I made sure to do before coming to this forum:

1. uninstalled old GPU drivers

2. verified integrity of game files through steam

3. deleted spaceEngineers.cfg in %appdata%

4. deleted %appdata%/spaceengineers as a whole

5. reinstalled space engineers

6. reinstalled on C drive (someone said it helped some people but did not help me)

7. installed newest drivers from NVIDIA

8. rolled back driver to out-of-the-box driver

9. Updated windows

10. changed "beta" version to dx9 compatibility 32bit (works perfectly fine)

11. Ver 1.178 works as well (I believe dx11)

12. disabled anti-virus/malware/ literally any program with an overlay

Conclusion:

Please help me with this issue, I have close to 200 hours on this game and convinced friends to buy it to play with me. Something that is severely limited right now because of this bug(s). Below I have attached the .log files generated most recently on the latest build, fresh install, of SE.

Windows 10 pro vs 10.0.18363

intel i3-4330 3.5GHz 2cores 4 logical cores

16GB RAM

500GB+ free SSD space C drive (where SE is installed)

Hello, Daniel,

thanks for contacting us with you concern and we´re sorry to hear that you are experiencing it.

I also do have Nvidia GPU (GTX 960) and game is running fine for me - so it´s not related to GPU manufacturer as such. I guess your problem comes from different place.

Currently, there is high number of players suffering similar conditions as you do (seeing the log, without any errors or exceptions) and while we did not found out yet what is the problem, there are some solutions you can try to use as a workaround.

1. In Steam, open SE Properties (right click on the game) - General - Launch option - put command "-skipintro" into the Launch Option input field.

2. Locate the game file on your drive - ":\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Videos" and either rename or delete the Videos folder.

3. If the game will be still crashing for you, can you please try to run "Windows Event Viewer" after the crash? If the generated log will have message about kernelbase.dll library, that is pointing towards corrupted Windows user. Making new user, installing the game there and running it from this new user shall fix the issue as with new user also new libraries and config files comes.

Hope some of the proposed solutions will work for you.

Please let me know.

Kind Regards
