Game Freezes for minutes at time - animations continues to run

Daniel Parrish shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

Hi there,

Currently experiencing a bug while playing on a multiplayer session with a few friends, where the entire game freezing for minutes at a time. Animations/sounds continue to play in the background. Attempting to close SE during this time needs to be done through task manager as the game is basically none responsive.

Sound also continues to play once the task is closed for a few seconds.

Have currently attempted the following;

- complete reinstall of space engineers (including deleting roaming folder)

- Verifying integrity

- Copying library.dll from the mod SDK across to replace it in the SE install folder (even with the new updated one as of 22.01.21)

Specs

3700X

16GB RAM

GTX 1070

3440x1440

SSD Storage

SE Version 1.197.0.75

Exact same situation as you Daniel. I have a i5-6600k, GTX 1070, 16gb ram, and a 4k monitor. I never had issues playing in the past but now I have those soft freezes constantly in single player vanilla, or a server with mods. DLL fixes, reinstall, integrity verification, and every other setting and tweak you can think of, and still nothing. I even tried rolling back the nvidia drivers, but no luck. They broke something in the code that isn't playing nice with a ton of people right now and I'm pretty over it. Months at a time for an actual update that isn't six block DLC, and people who have owned the game for 5+ years don't even get responses from devs on game breaking bugs. I want to like this game but it's hard when there's no support.

Hello Daniel!

Sorry to hear you're having this problem. Firstly, is this only happening in multiplayer? If so, is this happening in a lot of different servers, or, is it just one? If it's just the one, does the server have any mods at all running?

Is it possible that you could supply a log at all? I appreciate you have provided PC specs, but a log would be great to look over. Has this only been happening since the new update? Any extra information would be a great help :)

Kind regards,

Hi there,

Would love to give more info on this but I completely deleted all trace of SE including the folder in the roaming folder and reinstalled completely even to a different SSD. After an hour or so of testing on my friends multilayer session it appears I don't have the issue anymore.

Will give more details if it comes back though !!

Hello Daniel!

I'm glad the issue seems to have been sorted, although we haven't identified the cause of the issue. Please don't hesitate to provide any logs at all if you do have any further issues and we will look at them for you :)

Kind Regards,

Here's two logs from a freeze that occurred at 9:40. I'm still experiencing the issue even after moving SE to a new SSD. I've also verified all of my hardware is capable and running without issues. Some change in a recent update in the past 6-12 months changed how the game runs as I never used to have any freezing issues.

Hello Chris!

I see you're using a number of mods in the log. Are you able to test playing without these active and see if this affects the freezing you are having?

Kind Regards

Yes Laura. I've tested the game in all possible settings on a completely fresh install of windows and completely vanilla. I've verified all of my hardware is running fine, and that my connection is stable. I played the game on high settings for years with no issues in both single player and SMP without issues, and when I came back about 4 months ago I have been getting these freezes ever since. I'm going to try to create a gif of exactly what I'm referring to and post it to a new topic.

Hello Chris!

Has there been any change for you since the most recent update? If you do have a GIF, please post it in here if it relates to this thread rather than creating a new thread :)

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
