Game Crashing Constantly using IRIS XE AND IRIS XE intel igpus.

Rich Eldridge shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

I recently installed (and verified installation game files) on my new laptop (i5 1135g7, iris Xe and Xe Max gpus) and upon loading into any world my game crashes.

It is not instantaneous, and I may be able to play for up to 10 minutes before the game crashes. I have checked gpu and cpu temps, all nominal and below any threshold for overheating. My memory (8gb DDR4 3000mhz) is never at full utilization (remains somewhat close).

I can get a stable 60 fps with VSync and 1080p resolution with a mixture of Low-Med graphics, before which the game crashes.

I have deleted the shader cache folder from %appdata%/SpaceEngineers

It occurs regardless of what graphics card the game is set to utilize.

I have updated card drivers to no avail, and there is not any overclocking on the card.

Please help this is my favourite game and I would feel pretty sad if my laptop couldn't run it despite being capable performance wise.

Whats the temp on your card?

You can use GPU-Z or some other app to find out.

My temperatures on my laptop never exceeded 60 degrees celsius.

The solution to my problem was actually the game itself, and after reinstalling my gpu drivers completely (reverting back to the factory shipped ones) and then reinstalling the latest experimental driver I was able to solve the problem.

Hello, Rich,

Thank you for your information.

As you have already noted on another thread, you sadly do not meet the minimum requirements. Please see my colleagues comments and suggestions in the thread you commented on here https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/frequent-crashing-on-intel-graphics

Sorry I cannot provide more help in this situation.

Kind Regards

Good Evening Laura,

I did some investigation of the core problem on my device and decided to do a complete overhaul of the drivers for my GPU (Iris Xe and Xe Max), by reverting back to the factory drivers and reinstalling the latest experimental ones I was able to completely solve the issue.

It seemed odd at first to think that my current GPU or any other component for that matter was not at least meeting the minimum requirements, as it exceeds the Geforce GTX 750 and the R9 270x in performance.

As such my gameplay now is 100% stable, with 60 frames per second on 1080p settings. If someone asks in the future, with my particular GPU chipset, refer them to this as it might come in handy.

Cheers
