Exhausts stop working

Solved

Hi Keen, I am having an issue with the exhausts which is just more of an annoyance then anything but would be great if it could be fixed. I am using the exhaust blocks to emit sparks to create a power room which looks like it has a tesla coil in the middle. I have then got timer blocks set up for a little sequence which turns the exhausts on at the end once all the reactors are on.

The issue is no matter if its timer tirggered or you do it in the control panel if you turn the exhausts off and on again a bunch of them stop working for no reason. I googled the issue hoping to find a solutiuon and only found a post from 3 months ago which was closed down.... https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/smokey-feelings

My issue is much the same as this one however its not on a moving rover it is on a space station (static grid). I have not yet seen what happens if I turn all power off and back on again however they do start to work again if I grind and then weld them back up however doing this then causes others to stop working.

Some more info is I have the power setting set to 0 so that they are always full bore, this is happining on a public dedicated server (not sure if it happens on single player) and I do have a fair few of them however I also tested it small scale with only 4 exhausts and it still did the exact same thing. The blocks are turning on I have checked they just dont do anything until I grind and then weld them again.

Thanks

**** UPDATE ****

A complete power cycle of the station has made the problem far worse now over half of them have stopped working.

Hello J Hough!

Sorry you have been experiencing this issue. I have been looking into it this morning and can completely understand the issue you're having. It also appears to not be limited to a timer block. I can get the same result by simply grouping exhausts and turning the function off and on. This has happened for me in both a dedicated server and singleplayer. The good news is that I have tested it in our upcoming version of 198 and it is not happening in either dedicated or singleplayer. I'm sorry you have to deal with this for a little longer but please retest it in the upcoming 198 :)

Kind Regards

Oh that's awesome to hear!! Yeah as I said it's not a huge problem for me just a little annoying so I can definatly wait until the next update then, thanks for the info :) One more quick question then if you don't mind are you guys aware of the other thing where particle effects emitted by exhausts can be clearly seen from several km away like once you move away from the exhausts the lod of the effects changes to a much lower detail but it then grows in size and becomes way bigger then its supposed to be? Again not a major issue that once but would be nice if it just didn't do it. Thanks again

I’ve encountered a similar issue in 199; the particle effects from exhaust blocks seem to be considerably reduced in scope, but are not entirely absent. Fire is now a tiny Flicker, small fire is a slight glow at the port, the same is true for arc and the smoke options simply produce nothing.

Illumination from exhausts is still at the correct levels though.

I rolled back my client to 198 and the exhaust effects were still very subdued.

This seems to affect large and small grid exhausts. I also recently performed a major hardware upgrade so the problem could be entirely local. I’d appreciate some troubleshooting advice to check this, drivers are up to date
