Crash on start

Dogaru David shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

So....I have seen this is a common problem.

Let me start easy. When I start the game it crashes. I tried skipping the intro video and deleting them as I have read on the forum. I updated the graphics driver, I repaired the game files, reinstalled, deleted shadercache and .cfg, basically anything. Now I am trying one last resort.....updating my Windows (will be back with an update soon). Starting the game is like on old car in the winter if I try like 100 times turning the key it may stay on. I will attach all the latest logs.

UPDATE: The windows update did not seem to impact in any way...

Hello, David!

Thank you for your report. Unfortunately I don't see any exception in your logs. Could you please provide us a log from Windows event viewer?

I see that you have already tried general troubleshooting. Please let us know if the OS update helped you.

You can also try to:

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder in %Appdata% and delete it
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Clean install of your graphic drivers
  • Verify your game files in Steam again
  • Thank you.

    Kind regards,

So, the windows update and Vc redist reinstall did not help, I will proceed to do the rest and come back with an update.

So it apears that now it kinda works and does not crash as much but I've made it crash once and there is no exception in the .NET runtime in event viewer nor in the log....

This is probably the reason why you can't fix it and I understand it. Thank you for your support!

    Hello Engineer!

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Is this still an issue that persists or has it since been resolved? I see you mentioned 'kinda works' If it is resolved, I will close the thread :)

    Kind Regards

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.
