Connector Strength is too damn high even when turned down to nearly zero %.

This has been an issue since forever- connector strength is still too high to pull away from quite often, even when it is turned down to 0.01%.

There needs to be linearity to the numerical value, rather than basically being '100%' or 'Off' regardless of what you set it to on both your ship and the station/grid you are connected too and are attempting to undock from. People have been complaining about connectors and phantom forces for years- please make the time to fix connectors so that they actually have far less 'pull'.

Ctrl Click on slider allows you to enter numerical value.

Also magneting is a pint of connectors.

And to prevent stucking in mag fields, they have behavior - after undocking they will turn off magnetic locks for few seconds, allowing you to freely move away.

If you stuck - lock and unlock, thats it.

1)Entering a numerical value isn't helpful when 0.01% has as much attraction force as 1% and 10%- there is no linearity, as I said.

2)Magnetic attraction is the point, yes, but there is too much no matter how you set the connector.

3)Nope- that's not how they work. You have to have a stupid number of thrusters in order to break free- there is no 'few seconds of turning off to let you move away'. The only thing that works is to unconnect, then turn off your ships connector; this is how people have had to do it for YEARS.

4) Nope. Again, unless your ship has a large thrust to mass ratio it will simply get stuck on the connector and damage itself trying to pull away, no matter how low you set both connectors ( ship and station ).

Try playing the game a bit more and you'll observe this issue- also type 'connector' into the search box on this forum and see how many other people report similar issues...

I did as you said and played the game a bit more than you. I found out the best setings to be 0.0050%.

If you still can't lift-off from the connector, i suggest changing your ship designs or just disconnect faster as you got a period of time between the disconnect and the reactivation of the magnetization.

As for the default settings, i totally agree that this should be the default (0.0050%). The actual setting (0.0150%) is for large grid only ships at best. Although this could be made more linear.

As for the ship staying stuck on the connector no matter the strength you put might be a bug, this would be a de-sync bug.https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general/topic/ship-rubber-bands-back-to-groundconnector

Interesting- seems like someone 'fixed' this by setting the default connector strength to 0.015%.

Does that sound like a sensible number to anyone, like a number that makes any sense? Doesn't to me, sounds like someone couldn't be bothered to fix the number scale so that 50%? was a sensible number that allowed most ships to dock/undock without issues, 10% was weak allowing all ships to undock easily, and 100% was strong requiring a powerful ship to break the magnetic forces.

Having some insanely low number be the happy-medium makes no sense and indicates someone couldn't be bothered to do their job so they bodged it instead. Oh well, we're used to this now at KSH.
