Ai Basic Task following the wrong character/player in locally hosted servers
OBS: Recently I submitted the same bug, but then I got an energy blackout in my city and I don't know if it was sent. Since couldn't find it, I assume it was not sent
So, basically the Ai Basic Task when set to follow a player through automation blocks like Action Relays, Timers and Event controllers, it bugs and follow the wrong player (HOST). Instead of who pressed the action relay and caused the action.
Apparently, the AI gets confused and follows the Host by a reason I can't explain.
When my friend finally finished his AI Ship in MARS and toggled a timer and action relay for it to follow him.... It just started going crazy towards Earth to follow ME (Host), even when we were in different factions, different grid ownerships and no communication at ALL, the craft somewhat knew where I was.
Even when I didn't move an inch to order it. Also, many of my friends are reporting the same bug.
It might be somewhat hard to fix, because the AI needs to know who sent the order rather than getting confused and following the Host.
Also, I tried to solve it in many ways, I'll put some of them here (None worked, it is indeed a bug). Hope it helps if you are going to investigate
AI tests done in locally hosted servers (Where the bug always appear)
- 3 server variables (One hosted by me and two others hosted by my friends - each with all 3 of us in it)
Fixed Variables: Ai Bevahiour Flight ON/ Host nearly 100 Kilometers away from the main test area (In different faction)
Variable: Ai Basic Task
Test 1: Action Relay that sends a signal towards the craft (Signal action setup: Ai Beaviour ON (Ai Basic task) and Follow Player) - Results: AI followed the host, not the player who initiated the action through action relays
Test 2: Timer that activates Action Relay and sends signal (Same action organization as the other tests) - Results: Even with a primary activation system, the AI still doesn't recognize who sent the action for the signal, making it follow the wrong player
Test 3: Action Relay that starts a timer in the Test Craft and activates after 5 seconds the Basic Task Behaviours above - Results: AI did not recognize the owner or who sent the order and after 5 seconds, it followed the host far away.
Conclusion: It is indeed a bug or an issue where the AI Basic Task can't recognize player orders sent through automation blocks. At least for the Follow Player option
Thanks for the attention!
I really hope it gets fixed
Best regards, Marshal V.
