Need More Information

I have a problem with Space Engineers. The game crashes during startup with a graphics-related error.

I purchased the game on Steam, and I did not have any problems with it before. This issue has appeared for the first time now.

My system specifications:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU

  • GPU Driver Version: 32.0.16.1062

  • GPU Driver Date: 2026.06.11

  • DirectX Version: DirectX 12 (Feature Level 12.2)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-13620H

  • RAM: 16 GB DDR5 5200 MT/s

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Home

The game detects my GPU correctly, but it crashes when the rendering process starts.

The error message is:

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED / DeviceRemoved

The error occurs during the rendering process:

SharpDX.DXGI - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

I have attached the Space Engineers crash log file, which contains detailed system information.

Could you please help me identify the cause of this issue and find a solution?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Orsós Krisztián

Hello Krisztián,

Thank you for writing to us on our PC Support Forum and sharing the log file.

Based on our review, the game is crashing because the graphics device is being removed/reset by Windows during startup (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED). This points to a graphics driver or GPU-related issue rather than a problem with the game itself.

We recommend trying the following:

  1. Verify the integrity of the game files through Steam (Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files).
  2. Perform a clean installation of your NVIDIA graphics driver (using the "Clean Installation" option during installation, if available).
  3. Ensure that Space Engineers is using the dedicated NVIDIA GPU instead of the integrated Intel GPU in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  4. Disable any GPU overclocking/undervolting software or overlays (such as MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner) if you are using them.
  5. If possible, try launching the game after temporarily disabling overlays such as Steam Overlay, Discord Overlay, or GeForce Experience Overlay.

If the issue persists after the above steps, please provide a new log file generated after reproducing the crash so we can investigate further.

Kind Regards,
