Hm. I edited the post, to add screenshots and more context and now it is an empty post?

Hello Engineer,

Thank you for reaching our forum.

Unfortunately, we were unable to determine how best to help you.

Could you please provide a short summary of the issue you are experiencing? Ideally also do provide some screenshots and/or recording, when this problem can be observed on your side.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

There was alot of information in that post, which got deleted for some reason - I was waiting for someone to reverse that, since I assumed some auto moderation tool wiped it.

Let me go and get all the stuff again.

Re-post;

The functional line has moved for Heavy Armour blocks and its variants to 100% instead of the 90-80% it had been.

I tried to confirm that it wasn't just a mod or me issue, by asking around and someone else posted a screenshot of it on their end as well;

The functional line should be lower, like it is for every other block - just before the metal grid requirement.

Now all heavy armour blocks that used to be functional and airtight without grids look like this;

This base was built with full blocks before the recent updates which did the functional line change.

It seems the base game itself has this change, not a mod - here is the entry for LargeHeavyBlockArmorBlock in CubeBlocks_Armor.sbc ;

Hello Engineer,

Thank you for your reply and for further specifying the problem.

Please note that this change is intentional and actually by design. It was introduced to unify the behavior of Heavy Armor blocks, as several of them previously had inconsistent construction states.

To clarify:

  • Heavy Armor blocks now require Metal Grids to reach their functional line.
  • This only affects the building process.
  • If a Heavy Armor block is damaged, it will still remain airtight once repaired, even if the damage takes it below the new threshold.
  • Before update 208, it was possible to weld only the bottom stack of steel and the game would incorrectly treat the block as “completed,” which caused inconsistencies across the set.

With the current system, anything below the functional line is treated as being back in a construction state, which is now consistent with other block types.

If you feel that the Metal Grids should be positioned differently in the build order, or that the functional threshold should be adjusted, you are welcome to submit a Feedback ticket here on the forum:

https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/add

However, this behavior is not a bug - it is an intended update to standardize how Heavy Armor blocks function.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards,
