[Experimental Mode, PB, Steering] Determing front/back nature of a wheel

Benjamin Herne shared this bug 22 hours ago
Need More Information

When placing wheels, they are automatically determined to be either 'front' or 'back' wheels, with back wheels having (by default) unmarked, inverted steering. I was just wondering if there is a way of determining which state has been assigned to a particular wheel suspension in a ProgramableBlock? I'm working on a trailer setup, and I need to be able to treat certain wheels as front wheels rather than back wheels.

Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

To better understand the issue, could you confirm whether this behavior is coming from the script you’re running on the Programmable Block? In the Control Panel, wheels and suspensions are not automatically labeled as front or back, so it’s possible the script you’re using is assigning those positions on its own.

If you can share the script, the blueprint of the affected grid, or either the full world save file (with the grid and script included), along with a screen recording/video showing the issue, it will help us investigate the issued thoroughly.

  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.
  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files/videos you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards,
