dampener drift

I have a moon base grid with a rover and a miner connected to it and after undocking, dampeners don't function properly in environments with gravity. This issue also renders the vehicle unable to fly upwards, usually leading to a crash.

in the posted video I am continually holding spacebar to go upwards, but it doesn't work until after I crash. You can see the animation for the thrusters not activate until after crashing.

This might actually be a system working as intended: I think your thrusters are starving for hydrogen.

I noticed that after you crashed your lifting thrusters weren't at full power, but you were clearly holding the spacebar to go up. with dampeners on and a limited supply of hydrogen, I have found my engines can starve if I make a lot of inputs.

What's confusing that is your UI reports full hydrogen. My guess is you need to turn your tanks off of stockpile after disconnecting, or you have a conveyor routing issue somehow.

No, that's not what's happening here. If it was stockpile being enabled then the thrusters wouldn't light at all, same if there was a routing issue. I have gone through the possible user errors and confirmed they aren't the issue here. If you want video proof of this I can provide it.

if you confirmed the tank is off stockpile yourself then that is the end of it, but o2/h2 generators can feed thrusters directly and feeding from only generators produces the symptoms you're experiencing in my experience. If you want to test if your hydrogen thrusters are starving, see how the thruster plume lengths change during maneuvers with dampeners on and off.

In your video, after the impact you are no longer moving horizontally over the surface, which is why I think the thrusters start to work; your dampeners were consuming hydrogen trying to arrest horizontal motion.
