Corrupted save file including backups, 1.205.026 b0 default, no beta

Won't Fix

Hello! I saved my game and went to bed yesterday, but now it seems unable to open, first saying it's an outdated file format (despite being created yesterday and never previously having an issue), and then refusing to open. Attaching most recent logs. The option to publish the save on the workshop seems greyed out? The save seems to be several separate files so I'm not sure how to upload it.

It also seemed to force me to switch to experimental mode when creating a creative world (not the one the save is in, the save file in question shouldn't have any experimental features as it wasn't required to create the world and I haven't changed anything), but it wasn't clear on why.

Thank you for an excellent game.

After trying to restart the game and switching on and off experimental mode I now consistently get only this error.

I should probably mention that after I exited Space Engineers yesterday the entire computer crashed to bluescreen - this was not exiting directly from a world but from the main menu.

Edit: 3 Backups back seemed to work.

I've encountered this lastnight while modding and if you're on steam you'll want to verify integrity of game files and it should fix that issue.

All files successfully validated. As mentioned the third backup worked but it's still a scary bug.

Hello engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on our forum.

As you mentioned, your device crashed to a blue screen, which might have corrupted the save file due to the unexpected shutdown. Since the save's backups are working, you can load the latest working backup file and continue with your new builds.

Please note that if you have active MODs in the affected world, they could also contribute to world save corruption if the MOD is removed from the save, and/or may even cause the game to crash. When adding MODs, we recommend checking other players' reviews on the MOD's workshop page to avoid using MODs that are unstable, broken, or obsolete.

If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, we can proceed with closing this thread.

Kind Regards,
