Constant Crashes Since Contact Update

Need More Information

Since the new update, I've barely been able to run the game due to constant crashing. Some times it it'll just hang before having to force close, while other times an error message comes up about my GPU. I'm lucky to get 5-10 minutes before the game dies on me. I've investigated the hardware side of things, and everything is fine. I've tried deleting the config file, validating the game files, reinstalling the game, and nothing seems to work. Including my save and logs with the hope it'll help.

Hello Kristian,

Thank you for writing to us.

Upon reviewing your log file, we noticed a few things that may be causing the game to crash. First, you have the

-useallavailablecores active in your Space Engineers launch options. Please remove it, as it can lead to stability and thermal throttling issues that may cause crashes.

After removing this launch option, start the game and also disable Vertical Sync, as it can cause additional issues when active. To do this, from the game's main menu go to Options > Display, uncheck the Vertical Sync box, and click OK to confirm.

Then, start a new or load an unmodded (vanilla) world and check if the crash still occurs. If it does, please send us the log files from the time of the crash.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Followed the suggest course of action and then started a new save to test. While lasting a bit longer, it ultimately crashed. Here are the logs generated when it crashed.

Hello Kristian,

Thank you for providing the logs.

We're sorry that none of the previous workarounds have resolved the issue for you. Could you please try setting both Grass Draw Distance and Grass Density to '0'? We had another player with a similar issue, and they managed to resolve it by changing these settings.

To make these changes, go to Options > Graphics from the game's main menu. Use the sliders for Grass Draw Distance and Grass Density to set both values to 0. Then, click OK to confirm the changes and load the world.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue for you as well.

Kind Regards,

Set both the Grass Draw Distance and the Grass Density options to 0. Was able to play a bit before crashing again. At the time of the crash I was in the Basic Assembler menu. Prior crashes had been while assembling a small grid. Including logs.
