Black screen world after downloading world

DP shared this bug 5 months ago
Won't Fix

The black world is a screen without sounds. After loading the world, the screen is black. Markers are drawn, GPS marker names are drawn, the player interface is drawn, and that's it. Reinstalled everything that was possible:

1 - reinstalled the game,

2 - reinstalled the video drivers,

3 - reinstalled the sound drivers,

4 - reinstalled the Microsoft visual c++ libraries,

5 - reinstalled Direct X,

6 - downloaded WITHOUT MODS,

7 - reinstalled Windows 10 22h2 - Nothing helps.

Sometimes it is uploaded after checking files for integrity - but only once. I was starting a new clean game. It's all in vain.

I deleted the ShaderCache, Shadercache2 (in roaming), Shaders folders, then checked for integrity. It's still the same problem.

Hello, DP!

Thank you for writing to us, and we sincerely apologize for the issue you have been experiencing.

In the shared log file, we noticed that you have a multi-monitor setup. So could you first check if you remove the other displays/monitors and play the game on the one main screen/monitor only, does the issue persist or does it get resolved?

If the issue persists, the issue might have occurred because of the other error we found in the log file that the game couldn't find the game's config (.cfg) file. To resolve this, you could either get the config (.cfg) file from a friend who also plays Space Engineers and paste it in the \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder. Or, you can also try SE's new/fresh installation.

To do so, first, go to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers and copy/paste the Saves and Blueprints folders to a different drive or folder.

Then uninstall the game and remove any remaining files from both;

  • \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers
  • \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers folders.

After completing the steps above, please reinstall the game through Steam, and check if the issue persists. If the issue no longer occurs, you can move your Saves and Blueprint folders back to \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If the issue persists, please send us the new log file.

Kind Regards,

I've done all of the above several times. The only thing now is I took the cfg file from a friend. About the two monitors. I have 1 gtx 1080 video card, 1 built-in video card, 1 monitor. Before the SIGNAL update, everything worked with these settings.

After completely reinstalling the game, with the cleaning of folders, the game loaded well, but it won't last long. Eventually, the black screen will return.

I installed the game, started a new game - it worked. I installed the mod, launched it - it works. I closed the game via Alt + f4 - and I can't even go into a clean game without mods. Deleted the spaceengineers .cfg folders and the Roaming/Space Engineers folder entirely - black world - after patchFix. I am sending the files

Hello, DP!

Thank you for sharing further information and logs.

Though the latest log still has the config (.cfg) missing error same as you had initially, it seems the log is after the time you closed the game by Alt+F4 and when the game was unable to perform properly you deleted the config (.cfg) file. So the game runs well after a clean install? And when does the black screen issue occur again? Was it when you joined you're friend's Lobby only? If so, we are already aware of that issue and have reported it integrally here.

Could you kindly share information, what happens if you clean install the game and without killing it with Alt+F4 you exit the game properly, does the black screen issue still occur?

Was it persistent on a newly created vanilla (without mods/scripts) single-player world or only when joining you're friends' lobby or with old worlds?

Kind Regards,
