The game was bought in steam, just yesterday I launched it, played, and now it just hangs as running and does not start. Yesterday it also took a long time to start, about 3 minutes, but now it does not start at all. What to do?

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem that you are experiencing. We are sorry that it is happening to you.

Can you please tell me exactly what is happening? Does the game start at all, or is it just hanging "Starting" in Steam or something? Or not even that? What is happening after you press the Play button on Steam; is the game loading, is there splash-screen present, does the music start... ?

Can you please try our general workarounds first? These help most of the players to solve most of the problems:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if, after performing these steps, the situation on your end would be any better or fixed completely. If not, can you please provide me a log file from your game?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If there won't be any logs present in this folder, please send me instead logs from Windows Event Viewer.
