Random GPU Suspended Crashes

Need More Information

Hello there!

I have been running a dedicated server for my friends and myself, and it has been working perfectly until very recently. For me at least. My friends have had no issues.

I would be playing and suddenly, for no specific reason (I would be mining, welding, flying, nothing specific), and the game would freeze and crash with a GPU SUSPENDED error.

I have scoured the internet in hopes of finding a solution. I have verified the Steam files, reinstalled the game, updated drivers, etc. I still get the crashes randomly. They happen anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.

These are my specs, and I have attached a part of the error log generated.

Specs are:

I9-13900KF

RTX 4090

64GB RAM

I want to restate, that my friends play on the same server with the same mods, and the game NEVER crashes. It is only me.

I hope yall can help :)

Praise Klang!

Hi,

Finally despair has gotten to me and Im reporting that I am having the same issues. The game has been pretty stable until recently and suddenly Im getting the above issue plus others. Sometimes it can be over an hour, yet other times every 2-5mins. Ive removed all mods and run on a vanilla local game, as well as trying different modded servers. Cleared game and Nvidia shader caches. The game has been reinstalled and verified through Steam. GFX drivers have been changed to studio and back to game ready. Ive reset the monitor to 120hz with Vsync to match the FPS. Ive dropped the game graphics to the Medium option. Ive made sure that my Win11 is up to date, and that DX11 and the runtimes are all updated. Nothing has made any difference.

Interestingly very similar specs to the OP. Intel i9 13900K, Nvidia RTX4090 (Asus TUF OC), 64GB DDR5 6k CL32 Ram. Not overclocked and CPU and GPU are both water cooled and not getting close to overheating. I dont seem to have any problems with other games (Cyberpunk2077, Star Citizen, Enshrouded). I also getting the attached log message frequently showing in the logs.

I too have had this issue. I have done some extensive testing with the help of the Keen support, but I wasn't able to fix the problem. You can go take a look at my post for all the possible solutions, maybe one will work for you.

I still believe it might have to do something with the 4090 since a majority of the crash reports with similar logs, here and elsewhere have this one hardware in common. It is possible that SE doesn't play nice or doesn't know how to use the resources from the 4090 well and sends it into overdrive. This is speculation though and would need to be investigated by Keen support.

I haven't played in a few months and decide to try my luck again, but it still crashes. This time I played without the overlay which was the last thing I didn't try on my post. I have added a comment to my post with the log file indicating that I have attempted the no overlay approach and it did not work.

Hello Mhmd,

Could you please confirm if this issue is still occurring for you?

If it is, we recommend trying the following steps, which might help resolve the problem:

Turn off Anti-Aliasing in the NVIDIA Control Panel:

  1. Right-click on your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Manage 3D settings in the left panel, then open the Program Settings tab on the right.
  3. From the list, select spaceengineers.exe, and set the Antialiasing-Mode setting to Off.
  4. Click Apply to save the changes, then restart your computer to see if the issue persists.

If it does, please try to Disable ShadowPlay:

  1. Open the NVIDIA app as an administrator.
  2. Go to the Settings tab and toggle off the NVIDIA Overlay using the slider.
  3. Click Apply if prompted, and reboot your PC to check if the issue is resolved.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, kindly send us the latest crash log file.

Please note, the issues reported by other players in the comments do not appear to be the same as the original issue in this thread (i.e., DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED/DeviceRemoved error). For now, we will try to address/provide a solution for this specific error here. We kindly request players experiencing other issues/errors to open a new thread and include details about their specific issues there.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.

Kind Regards,

Hello there.

It has been a while, and honestly, the constant crashing made me stop playing the game.

Could never find the solution, no matter what I did.

Before I stopped playing, I did do everything you recommended. They did not help.

Thanks for asking, but at this time, I don't have the game installed anymore, so I can't send anymore Crash logs.

Have a great day :)
