Just bought - crash on startup

Won't Fix

Hello,

I have just bought and installed Space Engineers and I couldn't even get into the game yet. First time it crashed just after the intro, 2nd time it was all black but I could hear something when I clicked on my mouse.

Hello Vendetta,


I am sorry to hear you cannot launch Space Engineers. Can you please try the following:


Verify your game files in Steam

-Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files


Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

-You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

- It means your game configuration will be deleted


Delete ShaderCache folder

-Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg


Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it

Restart Steam

Reinstall VC Redist 2017

Update graphic drivers

Reinstall the game

Make sure your operating system is fully updated


If none of the above work then please share your newest crash log file with me.


  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thank you too for your help.

I have another update: the game was working fine before I shut off my PC. Adding "-skipintro" to the launch options seemed to have fixed it, however, it crashes again now, as soon as it gets into the main menu. I have attached the logs of both, when the game was working (1st two) and now that it's not working.

Hello Vendetta,


Thank you for more information. However can you please also share your event viewer logs with me?


- Press Win + R

- Type eventvwr, enter


- Search Windows logs and its subcategories for anything suspicious from the time of the crash, if it mentions SpaceEngineers in the details of the selected event, then you might have found something useful


Here is also a more detailed guide and steps on how to share the log with us.
