AI Collision Avoidance avoids subgrids

Jace Wilhelm shared this bug 8 months ago
Won't Fix

Any grid with subgrids cannot use AI with collision avoidance on. The collision avoidance will avoid the subgrids attached to its own grid which will result in strange behavior and it being unable to move towards its destination.

I would love if ships with subgrids could use collision avoidance.

Even better, Keen could you make connected ships via connector and magnetically attached objects not be considered obstacles in the AI flight's collision avoidance? It would be amazing if collision avoidance worked given these parameters. Imagine a dropship with a rover that can have full AI capablity.

Hello, Jace Wilhelm,

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. Unfortunately, when I placed subgrids on my AI drone, it was still able to move towards the destination even with collision avoidance on.

Can you please share your world save or blueprint with me so I can test it there?

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
