Hello, Kevin,

thank you for contacting us regarding your issue.

Can you please provide me more information?

Is this happening to you right from the time you purchased the game or was it working fine in the past?

Does this issue (this exact messages) happen every time you try to start the game? Did you also launch the game right from where it is installed on your disk or just through Steam? If not, can you please try? You can locate the .exe file in \Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Bin64.

When you try, are you able to launch the game? Or is it still the same?

Can you please share me a log file from the game (if there is any created)? You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If none can be found there, can you please share me a log from Windows Event Viewer? You can find "how to" here:

https://www.spaceengineersgame.com/troubleshooting/game-will-not-start-issues/

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

Had to make an account to reply. This issue just recently started happening and I just been trying to play it through steam.

(Edit) I tried launching it from the install location and I get the same error message "requiring" a DX 11 card. there is no event log in the install folder and I have no clue what windows event log your looking for. I can barley understand any of it.

Hello, Engineer,

than you for writing back to us.

However, I would need some form of log so I can see what is going on and what might be wrong on your side.

Are you sure you checked the right folder for logs? It's not in the install folder (Steam), but in SE folder in Roaming (where saves, blueprints etc. are stored). Please find the correct path in my last comment (or bellow) and re-check. If really nothing can be found there, it would be great if you can share me log from the Windows event viewer, as said before.

Please open the Event Viewer (from the Start menu in Windows, type Event Viewer). In Event Viewer go to Windows Logs, Application and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe (see below image) to our support email (top two are enough).

In order to do this right, please follow very carefully these steps:

1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)

2) Select first the .NET runtime error from top (using default ordering)

3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to our mail. Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

If something can be found there, please share me the error that will be shown there.

You can also try our other general workarounds if you will:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

9183b55bd02aa04eeca521face12ca53

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything from the above list works for you. If not, please try to provide me the logs (game and/or Windows event viewer).

Kind Regards

Iv done everything I can including completely removing the game from my PC and even verifying the integrity of the install. Iv looked for both forms of logs and error logs and there is nothing. Iv even pulled my windows event viewer apart looking for the .NETRuntime error log your looking for and there's nothing but tumble weeds. I don't know what ells you want me to look for and I don't know what ells to say. I CAN'T find what your looking for. All I did was reinstall the game a week ago to play and this whole disaster started. I have DX12 installed because it came with my Radeon RX 6700XT and had no issues in the past.

(Edit)

I don't know if the attached file is what your looking for but I tried.

I don't know if its supposed to be a text document but here it is.

Hello, Undrtkr Redwood,

thank you for the DxDiag, it is fine as a text document.

Based on the information from the document, your feature levels do not match the ones required by the game. Can you please update your Windows 10?

Thank you for letting me know if it worked.

If you where mentioning the windows version 22H2, I just updated to it. I was on 21H2, and on 22H2 I'm still having this issue for "Not Having" DX11. I don't know what to do at this point and I'm just about done fighting with it where I uninstall the game forever because I cant "play it".

My Windows is up to date on everything. Its been up to date on everything, And I'm not upgrading to windows 11 until windows 10 is completely dead. I don't really like windows 11 because of the OS format change and the removal of some features.

So.....I don't know what happened in one of Windows' updates to do this but, when I installed the fixes, as I will call them, the game finally launched and I'm able to play again. I guess some where along the line windows decided it didn't need those files and removed them. In short, My game install is working again and Thank You a ton for helping me out with this. I was at my wits end.
