SE DS Local: Mods not installing

Aaron Cole shared this bug 23 months ago
Won't Fix

Currently trying to just start a small local server for some friends and adding some mods we all want. Have tested starting the server without the mods and works fine, add one mod and will shutdown and restart in a loop. Read other posts of same/similar problem with no posted fixes working. Attached is screenshot of console,

SP-DSM-Local/Console ver. 1.201.013

Hello, Aaron!

Thank you for writing to us.

The MOD you're trying seems to be broken, the reason why the server is unable to load properly.

Please remove this MOD, try using other MODs, and check if the server loads appropriately, and you/your friend can join/play on that server.

If the issue persists, kindly send us the log file.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated.

Kind Regards,

Hello, Aaron!

This issue might be happening because the Steam DLLs included with the dedicated server are out of date. The workaround to fix this issue is by copying the following DLLs from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and pasting the DLLs in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineersDedicatedServer\DedicatedServer64 folder (choose to replace if prompted).

  • steamclient.dll
  • steamclient64.dll
  • tier0_s.dll
  • tier0_s64.dll
  • vstdlib_s.dll
  • vstdlib_s64.dll

Although it is a known issue, that has already been reported internally and is similar to this thread.

Please let us know if the above mentioned workaround solved your issue.

Kind Regards,

Hi, Aaron!

Sorry to hear you're still experiencing this issue.

Could you kindly share some additional information?

1) Have you stored MODs locally (in which folder) or subscribed to them from Steam > Workshop?

2) Kindly try the MOD that is known to be working (you can read other players' reviews/comments on the MOD and check if its working fine for others or not, which will give you an idea if that MOD is broken/outdated or not) and check if the issue persists.

3) Are you able to set up DS without having any MODs?

You can also try a clean new installation of the SE Dedicated Server manager from Steam (before reinstallation, delete every leftover in both the Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated and Steam SpaceEngineersDedicatedServer folders).

Kindly let us know if the issue persists, and send us the log file if you still experience the issue.

Kind Regards,

All mods have been through Steam, as I havent found a way to load the mods onto the server from local files so unable to test it.

All the mods seem to be usable as I can use them in a single player world, and no comments seem to indicate the mods are broken.

I have been able to set up and launch the server without any mods.

As for a clean slate of DS, I did try it and even updated the dll files before launching, still had the same issue.

Log file is attached.

Just reinstalled and copied over the steam files. Started a new world and tried loading 1 mod. Still same issue of not starting.
