dx11 not recognized

jax Wolfhart shared this bug 2 years ago
Solved

SE keeps giving me this log file and saying my gpu is not directx11 compatible but i have played SE and other dx11 games before.

i have tried uninstalling, deleting data files, clean driver install, updating driver, moving SE from D to C drive, the entire community workaround section, and help from a dev that then referred me here.

Hello, jax,

thanks for letting us know.

While you wrote you tried some of these woraround/fixes can you try in once more, please?

  • Verify your game files in Steam 50 right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If nothing from above works for you, can you please send me new log file?

Thanks.

Kind Regards

Hello,

sorry to hear that none of this didn't help.

I found only two players with the same problem as you are experiencing. Both managed to fixed it. Can you try their steps?

https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/6/1621724915799466458/ - this seems rather strange solution, but it obviously worked. So if you have option to plug in another monitor, I would try that.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/0/2913220877913474685/ - this one seems more reasonable. It seems that you need to change your screen resolutin to 720 when starting the game and then back to 1080p. It might work for you as well.

Please try these solutions.

Good news, it is working due to both the hard work from you, and others at Keen software. thank you.

i am not sure why but what fixed it was unplugging the monitor twice and replugging it back in.

that's great news! Happy to hear that it is working for you and you are able to play the game again.

Thanks also for letting me know about what have worked for you. That way I can add it to the advices to players should anyone else have this issue as well in the future.

As there is no furhter assistance needed from our side, I will close this thread.
