Unable to launch game

Stephen McDonald shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

I have been unable to launch Space Engineers from Steam for the last three days. I suffered a BSOD under the "Memory_Management" error code and when I recovered my PC everything except Space Engineers worked just fine. Upon loading from Steam the game opens the main loading logo, then crashes instantly creating a crash log. I have tried Uninstalling and Reinstalling Space Engineers, deleting every single file from both Steam Local Files and from AppData, I have reinstalled my GPU Drivers, I have Uninstalled and Reinstalled Steam, I have also ran a Memory Diagnostic test that came back clear of any errors as well as a Disk Check that did the same. I have done everything I can potentially think of, even going into my Registry and making sure that there were no errors pertaining to Space Engineers from there. Nothing I have tried has worked. I've also included 4 different crash logs from this post. All crash logs report error code 0x80004005 as the root cause that keeps the game from loading, though this is a very generic "Driver Error" code that have been unsuccessful in isolating. I need assistance at this point because I have no other options to try.

I was told to put this here on the forums and that I would receive help, was that a lie cause right now it feels like a lie. My ticket was closed and everything. I've already left a 1 star survey for your support team as feed back.

Hello, Stephen,

thanks for reaching our forum and letting us know about your problem. We are sorry that you are experiencing it.

From log, I can see that it was on v200.030. Are you still experiencing this same issue even on current version (200.032)?

Unfortunately, this exact error code (0x80004005) can mean whole lot a things and they are most likely connected to some problem within the Windows itself, rather than being originated from the game.

Just to make sure the issue is not from our game, you can try these steps:

  • Verify your game files in Steam - right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder - same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If nothing from these steps would help you to launch and play the game, it's unfortunately the second option - problem in Windows itself. There is no clear place where this error would point, so it can be anything from faulty installed update, corrupted registers, having corrupted/not whole .temp folder/file somewhere on the PC... up to having problems with shared files, problem with Outlook or others.

I would suggest to try to look online for this error and see what possible fixes are recommended.

Hope something will help you and you will be able to play the game again.

Please let me know.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
