Game Will Not Launch on my COmputer

Vladimir4757 shared this bug 18 months ago
Won't Fix

It launches to the main menu for 5 seconds, then freezes, then crashes and does nothing. I get to a screen and click a button (first one is a screen welcoming you to the game), and game crashes. Launch again, that screen is gone, now there is a EULA. Click the EULA, game crashes. Launch game again, crashes immediately. Launch again, click screen to skip intro animation as I'm frustrated since I've been here now almost an hour and cannot figure why the game isn't launching. Game crashes. Finally get it to the main menu...and it crashes. It just crashes. No matter what I do, no matter what fix I do, the game crashes and there is nothing in my log files. Idk what is going on, I just bought this game, have no mods and no idea what is going on

I have :

Checked for graphics card updates

Updated C++

Updated .NET

Updated Direct X

Deleted the config

Deleted the cached shaders

Unplugged second monitor

Ran windowed by modifying config file

Verified integrity of game files

Set the launch option to disable the main menu graphics thing and the intro sequence

Restarted my PC at least 3 times

Ran malware bytes and had no virus

Turned of UAC, disabled all anti virus

Ran the program as admin

Ran Steam as admin

Ran both as admin

Done a clean install

I've gotten it to launch, but 5 seconds on the main menu and it just freezes and it doesn't hard crash, it just freezes and you have to kill it in task manager. I waited an hour A WHOLE HOUR and it did nothing at all. This is garbage, I paid for this game and all the DLC and I cannot play it.

I've posted the issue on steam and was instructed to post it here so the SE devs could see about a fix or something idk.

Here are my steam stats. NOTE I ONLY HAVE 1 GPU AND STEAM SAYS I HAVE 2 BUT I ONLY HAVE 1 GPU I DO NOT HAVE 2 GPUS

Also I was able to get the settings to pull up and it shows this : 1920x1080 16:9 is not supported and the resolution it supports is 16:9**

I CANNOT GET A SCREENSHOT as it crashes before i can get the screenshot.

Hello, Vladimir4757,

thanks for letting us know.

Seeing from your log, you are missing the game config (that is created upon first launch of the game). Are you able to get the *.cfg file from any other player (e.g. friend or such)? If yes, please do so and move this config file to your appdata/Roaming/SE.

As simple solution as that (along with the proper PC restart) worked for some players.

If it won't work for you or you are unable to get the file from any other player, please try the following:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (iIt means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Let me know, please, if anything from above works.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.
