Cannot connect to antenna when beacon is turned on.

Engi shared this bug 2 years ago
Reported

1.200.030 SP Creative.

Add an antenna and a beacon to a large or small grid. Make sure both are on. Shift+k to connect. Grid will be grayed out. Turn off the beacon and you can connect to the grid. Beacon seems to have priority but you cannot connect to beacons as they only transmit.

Hello, Engi!

Thank you for the information. I have reproduced this and reported it internally.

Kind Regards

also cannot connect to antenna if your ship is docked to a station that has a beacon on. In my case, it was someone elses station but we were allies.

This is still a problem.

I will add that sometimes, modifying the range of the antenna fixes the issue temporarely for whatever reason.

Here is a ticket with steps to reproduce that as well. Reconnecting the beacons is also sometimes necessary for the antenna to begin functioning again with the beacon still on, after changing the range. Changing the range to 50.000m (current max range) never fixes it, but I did get 49.999m to make the antenna work after reconnecting the beacon, but it was inconsistent.

Still a thing. Just added a large grid beacon to a ship I'm building and as soon as i do, I cannot connect via remote control due to wrong ownership despite the beacon block belonging to me

Try fiddling with the ranges. As I described here sometimes it works if the range of the antenna is < 50km, for some reason. You may need to turn the beacon off and back on after you change the range.

Well....that's fixed it. What's that all about then lol. Thanks

I've no damn clue man, this is definitely a bug that's weird as hell. How weird it acts may be the reason why the devs haven't figured it out yet.

#hatetobeadev I can only sympathize with having to fix a live game. The amount of stuff they must have to deal with would finish me lol
