Remote control auto pilot turns off on its own

I gave a tunnel mining rig a remote control and set it to fly one-way through an asteroid. I set the speed limit to 0.5m/s, precision mode to on, and collision avoidance to off then sent it on its way.

Seemingly randomly while tunneling the autopilot will turn itself off, and when I try to turn it back on it "fights me" (turns back off instantly) a few times before getting moving again.

I got around this by setting a timer to turn the autopilot on and trigger itself now.

This might be intended behavior but it seems more like a bug to me since collision avoidance is off and the ship is still 50+ meters from its destination.

Would it be possible to have a copy of the save where you have experienced this issue? I appreciate you taking the time to report this :)

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Hello, Asa!

Thank you for providing the save file. I've had a look and created a new GPS waypoint and it appears to be following it. It has managed to get stuck at one point inside the asteroid but it's still trying to move, the asteroid has caught the side of it and is still at least trying to follow the path as autopilot is still on. Is it possible to provide a video of how this happens for you to see if I can reproduce the exact same scenario you are facing?

Did you try disabling the timer that is spamming "auto pilot on"? that would hide the issue.


As for video evidence, not at the moment. I'm having other issues with the game. I keep getting "video dxgkrnl fatal error"s after playing SE for any amount of time. The weird part is only SE has been correlated to it. If I try to play another game afterwards (tf2) it will boot up with the wrong resolution. also in GeForce experience it won't recognize that my card has the right driver or half the features its supposed to (shadow play ect.) I've found that reinstalling the card via the device manager will fix the issue though.
