FPS drop and slow down

odizzido shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

So I tried playing this game on my laptop again which runs everything else just fine, including space engineers about a year ago, but something has changed and this game runs horribly bad now.

What happens is the game is running along perfectly fine then all of a sudden I drop from 60+ FPS to maybe 15 and sim speed probably drops to maybe 0.1. At the same time my CPU usage drops to maybe 10%. I can minimise the game and do other things while it does that just fine. Usually it only lasts for 5 or so seconds, but it happens every few minutes and it makes the game unplayable.

I don't know what info you might want if you wish to look in to it. Here is my laptop model

Hello odissido!

Sorry you're having trouble with this. Is this after the most recent update that you're having the issue? Is it happening in one particular mode or all of them? Also, online or offline?

Can we please have a copy of your log to take a look at? Any further information would be a great help :)

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards

I actually hadn't loaded space engineers for a while, so it's likely a few versions ago. I just checked my saved game list, the last game I played was saved in 4/2020. It was working just fine then.

I am actually unsure what you mean by mode. I started an offline solar system game and the economy system is enabled as well as passing ships. I use my own mod but all it does is change a couple stats on hydrogen.

If you need anything else let me know. Thanks :)

Hello odissido!

Thank you for the further information and log which will be looked over. By mode, I meant if it was a scenario or custom game for example. You answered it with the offline solar system though :) Although you mention a small mod, is it possible to try it without it just to double-check that is not causing any issue at all? I do appreciate you said it is only for a couple of stats on the hydrogen.

Kind Regards

I went digging a little.....seems this is being caused by thermal throttling on my end. Sorry to have wasted your time and thank you for the reply :)

Also why are you guys sending info to epic? Do they pay keen for it or something? I noticed that in the log files.
