Constant Crashes Before Start Menu

Won't Fix

Game constantly crashes before it gets to the start menu. On average I have to spend about 20 to 30 times to get the game into the start menu.

Here is the crash report. I should have no problem running this game. And didn't for a long time

Please help or fix this. and I have tried the standard AMD fix but that is no longer working

I have tried deleting all mods and this file steamapps\workshop\appworkshop_244850.acf. Nothing seems to work

Thank you for your report. It seems to be a graphic crash. Could you please write us your PC specs? I would also recommend you to:

  • Update your graphic drivers
  • Install VC Redist 2017 (in case you don't have it)
  • Reinstall the game
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg
  • Start the game

Already tried that. Went to the common fixes first. I wouldn't be in here if any of that worked

Can you please write us your GPU info? Did you verify your game files? If possible, can you please try your Steam account on a different PC?

Verified just fine. Game works on my laptop which is intel and about 5 years old with a 960m in it and a 4 core cpu

My Current Gpu is a Asus 2080 ti Advance

not overclocked

Current driver from nividia as of yesterday

version 452.06 release date 8/17/2020


Do you need anything else or data?

Yes it's still a problem. Same error.. And as far your customer support....maybe I'll get back to you in 8 months.

Thank you for the update. Could you also please try the following

  • Verify your game files in Steam
  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file
  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

None of that works.

I have done everything in your support area of the website and from this forum. Swapped out hardware for brand new hardware, same problem. The only thing that makes a difference is switching to an Intel chip. I have 2 AMD computers, the game acts the same way on both, constant crashes before the game loads to the start Menu. The second PC is freshly built if you ask me, your game is trying to write itself on something it's not allowed to do on AMD chips

I have also learned you need to reply and post to get a answer 8 months later


Then I will probably be told to try all same fixes that I have already done.

As far as the crash report its the same as it has always been even with a new GPU
