Client crashes when placing frostbite doors on dedicated server

Solved

Hi Keen,

I noticed after making a new dedicated server when I tried to place in a copie of a ship I have been working on for some time all of the Gates and Offset doors provided by the Frostbite pack did not spawn in with the ship. I tried to re place them in however they would not place at all and my client would crash, no errors are reported by the server. I tired to do it in single player which worked fine and then tried making a brand new server with completely defualt config and no mods same issue client crashes when trying to place them and the block placement doesnt work again no issues reported by server. So there is something wrong with trying to place the Frostbite gates and offset doors in dedicated servers. I have also tested this with some friends and they could replicate the issue 100% the same way as me. Would really apriciate it if you could fix this issue considering I PAID FOR IT and would really like to be able to use them on my ship which has already been blueprinted with them in the past.

****EDIT****

My friend just pointed out that the same exact issue is also happining with the antenna dish from Frostbite and the new letters blocks form Sparks Of The Future.

***EDIT EDIT***

Also just discovered this same issue happens when attempting to past in a copie of Triton from Frostbite. Im guessing the issue is when you try to place the DLC items, mostly Frostbite the server is not recognising that you own that pack and thus kicking you off for cheating or something?

Hello,

Could you please provide us with more information regarding the issue you reported? I wasn't able to reproduce it. Could you share logs from the crashed client and also from the server?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

The client crashes out right and does not provide any crash error reports or logs in a box like it normally does so is there another way to get them? Also the server does not crash or show any errors it continues to run normally however the blocks dont get placed and the client crashes but I can still get a log from the server easy once I have had time to log on and reproduce the issue. I live in Australia and its quite late at night right now

Hello Keen,

An update on the extra info you requested...

So I made a fresh new server with 0 mods mostly just to keep the logs clean so the one I have attached is the only log for this server. I was able to replicate the issue 100% first time. Important thing to note is the client isnt completely crashing when this happens however the connection with the server is crashing disconnecting you and bringing up the "server host has left the game" message even tho the server is still running perfectly fine and not reporting any issus on the console. However I took a look at the log myself and think I found where the problem is. When I try to past in a ship with the problem blocks or try to place them myself the server does a check on them and fails saying there is a problem with the XML for these blocks, again this doesnt just happen to me two other of my friends have the same issue 100% of the time. So while testing I pasted in my ship which already has the doors and they didnt spawn, this ship does have modded weapons but they arn't installed on this test server. I then deleted this ship which has a lot of rotor based turrets attached which is why theres so many closing grid requests. Then after this I attempted to place one of the gates from frostbite and thats when my client was kicked off and I got the message "server host has left the game" however I can confrim the server was in fact running and didnt stop until I told it to which you can see at the end of the attached log. Dureing this test the server is reporting an issue with the XML files for the doors.

Hello,

I don't see nothing obvious in the log (except the exception). And I'm still not able to reproduce it (I tried it with activated DLCs, deactivated DLCs and even on an account that does not own DLC at all).

Did you try to join more than one server? Does it happen on every server?

It might be helpful to see also the log from a client after he is kicked out.

Also I would recommend some basic troubleshooting such as:

- reinstall Frostbite DLC (be sure it's installed)

- backup and delete SpaceEngineers and SpaceEngineersDedicated in ..Appdata/Roaming/ (the easiest way is to just rename both folders)

- Verify Integrity in Steam (click on SE or SE DS and go to Properties/LocalFiles/VerifyIntegrityOfFiles)

- If nothing above helps, i would try to reinstall game and DS (Uninstall, check that all files have been removed and install again)

Thank you!

Here is a link to another report of the same issue by someone I dont know who is on a totally different everything and having the exact same issue. I am not the problem your game is and you need to fix it. https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/sotf-client-is-getting-disconnected-from-dedicated-server-when-placing-sci-thruster

Hello, J Hough!

It´s quite long time from your last comment. Are you still experiencing it nowadays? Or was the issue fixed meantime?

When I tested it on DS, I was not able to reproduce it. Placing letters, dish, doors, gate and other mentioned objects worked just fine for both - server host/admin and client as well.

Thanks for letting me know and eventually confirming that this issue in no longer happening to you.

Kind Regards

Hi, I did end up doing a complete reinstall of the dedicated server client which fixed the problem. Something must have broken in the update but I havent had any issues since.

Thanks
