Can't Publish Blueprints with Thumbnail

Butterslingshot shared this bug 4 years ago
Solved

I can publish a blueprint just fine with with NO thumbnail (Even a thumbnail under 256kb doesn't work, any thumbnail makes it have an error) DLC Blocks don't affect it, as I've tried it without it. I've Rebooted my computer too. Nothing is working. I can only upload blueprints with no thumbnail. I've tried multiple different sizes, 1920x1080, 840x525 (which Dan2D3D suggested) and 960 x 540. None of this worked. This has only started happening recently and is affecting every blueprint.

Edit: This is happening to all Blueprints, either newly created or old. Not a specific one

Hi Keen Team!

Just adding more info, 3 members recently reported on the Steam forum saying that they can publish only by deleting the thumbnail before publishing and happens only for one of their Workshop items, I mean it's OK when they publish another new creation but not for one specific that they tried all the forum workaround like resizing the thumbnail to a very low value and still can't.

I am having exactly the same problem, as of 2nd June

I am having the same problem. Maybe instead of relying on a micro sized file you should be able to change the tumbnail that appears on the workshop in Steam and upload whatever image you want. If people see no image they're not gonna look at it. This would be so simple to change and I'm tired of having this issue -_-

I am also having this issue since february this year now. I can not upload any blueprint with a thumbnail. I agree that just giving an option to upload a thumbnail afterwards to steam would workaround the problem for now. Currently I have a workshop full of thumbnail less ships.. very annoying, since the whole workshop thing is one of the big selling points for this game IMHO.

I fixed this problem, after trying all the usual things people recommended didn't work, you can see all the things I tried and what eventually worked in more detail here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/spaceengineers/comments/gx22pk/completely_unable_to_upload_blueprints_to_the/

It looks like it was a corrupted file in the steam cloud save folder on my PC, so doing the following fixed it:

1. make sure cloud syncing is turned off.

2. open up steam/userdata and look for a folder in there called "244850". This contains the steam cloud save for SE, and there should be a file and a folder in there, delete them (or cut and paste to a new location).

3. close everything and restart, now it should work.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. I set use cloud to false (which it was already), closed space engineers, removed the folder called "244850", restarted my pc, opened space engineers (took quite a while since it was syncing my cloud bp's again), opened an empty world, pressed F10 and tried to publish one of my blueprints.

Still the same error "failed to publish blueprint"

Ok, the thing is that the fix I recommended was to turn off cloud syncing, and keep it turned off. This is because, as someone on the Keen discord server pointed out to me, there was a corrupted file in the cloud save that was getting in the way of uploading.

That is why the file and folder in the 244850 folder were causing trouble, and why cloud syncing had to be turned off and kept off.

If you did all that and then turned cloud syncing back on, then you would re-download the corrupted file and be back where you started.

Try turning off cloud syncing, deleting the contents of that 244850 folder, restarting (as before) then try uploading a local blueprint without turning cloud syncing back on.

If it doesn't work after that, then you are having a different issue, but if it does, then you know that there is a problem with one of the files in your cloud save.

I misunderstood. I thought with 'turn off cloud sync' you meant in the space engineers game menu to turn off steam cloud. But I now also turned off cloud sync in the steam app. So no blueprints are synced (however the remotecache.vdf still gets populated). Unfortunately still I am unable to publish a blueprint (with a thumbnail that is, without thumbnail it works).
